My first ever song, ever!

Hiya guys,

I've been pissing around with trying to lay down a funkier track but with little progress, so I got bored and recorded this instead. It's sooo unfunky. Call me Sir Nose! lol

It's the first ever song that I wrote, a few years back for someone close whos folks decided to peg it both within 8 months. She said she likes it, but she would, and anyway I feel Ive done a complete injustice to the universe by not staying true to the Funk...so, get a bucket, you are about to vom'.

It was recorded with guitar or mic plugged directly into the mic-in of a laptop, using cooleditpro...hence quality is shit. I used to have lag problems but thats been sorted by using CEpro's metronome, which unfortunately you can hear throughout the track. It's only short, a couple of verses, and the two solos were a last minute afterthought, hence why theyre shit as well.

Actually, the whole thing is embarassing, but it's my first ever song, so hey wtf. The next one in the pipeline for Eclectic MaggotLand Studios is TRES DIFFERENT, and not as wanky as this. So why the hell post it? because I'm f***ing masochistic that's why, and friends are like, "hey that's really nice". So be contructively brutal please! You know my set up - anyway of improving certain things would be helpful. Other than my voice. NOTHING can improve the shiteness of my voice. Ok, 'nuff said.

p.s. it's called 'All Flowers'
p.p.s. you'll find me in my box boxed
p.p.p.s. it's mp3, not streaming sad

baptism in fire

It's not as bad as you make it sound like in your post mr.green

I suggest you use a dedicated pre amp for the guitar. i used to plug my guitar directly into some Mic input but the impedance mismatch (technical term) makes the guitar incredibly hard to tune and it also loses all the high end in the tone.

Other than that, keep up the good work!

ok, maybe... Thanks Vina for that huge total diss' wink
I guess there are some messages you just can't lay down in the funk!

I'm working on about 5 songs at the moment but I have no idea which one will finish first...all I know is that the one I'm working on right now (4am - 5 hours till work!) is SO F***ING FUNKY... it'll require a nose-peg advisory warning I'm telling ya.

lol

Thanks BigThing man, I've checked out what all this impotence mismatch malarky is about and it seems I either need a 'direct box' or to mic up an amp (when I eventually get a new amp!). I was planning to wire straight from an amp into an external sound rack connected to the computer but even that is unlikely to have matching impedance apparently...do people normally mic up an amp, even if you're ploughing a whole range of pedal effects into the sound? I need to do some home work... Cheers mate.
