Fruity Loops, ACID, and Blazing Saddles I was talking last week about using demo versions of Fruity Loops and ACID to make a song.
Well I did it. This is the first version - I plan to do a bit of restructuring - there's too many Blazing Saddles quotes in there, but MAN I love the groove. Edit2: HERE'S the NEW version: www.blindslim.com/fly/where2.mp3 and THIS is the OLD version: www.blindslim.com/fly/where.mp3 EDIT: To be fair - if you haven't seen Blazing Saddles, umm, this may offend you. It's got to be the most offensive satire of westerns I've ever seen - the humor is in how it makes fun of stereotypes across the board, so, the use of certain terms is, umm, part of the humor to the movie. I apologize if it offends. I didn't even think that maybe some folks haven't seen the movie. this alot ALOT different 4 u man. I think that is funny and weird how u used the samples and stuff. Im used 2 havin u as a "i dont do the drum machine thing" type of guy. lol. But it is a change of pace, and the more u start doing it man, the more cre8tive it'll b. Im surprised by this though man. The samples are trippin! Straight Jacket Funk Affair

I agree with PP4 here- this is very unique for you (at least from what I have known of your style). I like it alot! I am really fond of what you did with the movie samples and how you add sounds in and out at different times that correspond with the movie clips. And, there is one break down that you do that is 2 funky!
Good work as usual, Beau! Your friend, Jason

You guys are too kind!
I TOLD you I was working on it. I finally took the time and now, it's a little less crowded, not so hyperactive. www.blindslim.com/fly/where2.mp3 THAT one is more of a dance track - lots of space with little happening, instead of a radio-type track where there's stuff happening every second. In the new one - I was messing around with the rhythms more, samples less. Thanks y'all. This is just TOO funky! I could stay up all night messing round with ACID. hey Tal!
I keep listening to this going, great, how the hell can I perform this live? I guess I'll have to break out the thong and inspirational dance steps. The Last Otan Track: www.funkmusician.com/what.mp3

Cool man! Groovy loops. Good mix with the samples and beats. How can you perform it live? Just play this back and do some killer guitar solos over it. The thong and dance steps wont hurt either. Hey, if Prince can do it, so can you.
You inspired me to mess around with ACID. You bad influence, you. Peer pressure. "Otan's up all night messing around with ACID, why can't I?"

I just love the Blazing Saddles samples. The dance beat doesn't do it for me, I know how much work it takes though.
Great stuff. I'm programming drums using Fruity Loops for some of my songs and a couple of covers. It's more than a challenge and part of me wants to go back to playing drums. Between you & Vina, I've been pushed to finish what I've started. Thanks to both of you.
