newfunkorder.com: THE SCOOP!

We're back up! http://www.newfunkorder.com

Ok,

First thank you again to those who brought the outage to my attention.

The Good News:

The current hosting company is migrating their current system and servers to something much better. The old system, including the billing, only seemed to work half the time, meaning that when it came to re-bill the credit card, it was rejected. Apparently this is a common problem and when it goes down, you had to call them and someone had to manually bill the credit card. Don't worry, I'm good. The new system will not have these billing tech problems.

The Bad News:

(Don't worry, this only applies to me) Every website under the old system, newfunkorder.com included, has to be re-uploaded to the new server by the owner as well as having to re-purchase a new hosting package. This time, I took the initiative and bought a more expensive hosting plan that should provide us with just about anything out there that we might want to implement. What stinks is that I manage many other sites under this hosting company and I have a week's worth of uploading to do up to the new servers. I also have to re-create each e-mail address.

Not cool.

I'm currently working on purchasing my first home and for those who know, it takes up a lot of time that I don't have. We are still developing the new site and it is looking quite impressive and I want everyone to know that things are still in motion whether you see the name "NFO" on here or not. Yamomma has contributed a lot of time to this as well and although he wants to remain anonimous, I'm telling you anyway that he really cares about this and has done "The Work".

Anyway, we have 7 days starting now to put everything onto the new server. All ftp information will remain the same until then. I will try to remember to keep the passwords the same as well when the conversion takes place.

On a personal note: Cloud9 is way cool in my book and although I inadvertently steped on his toes in the beginning, I realize now that he cares a lot about this and everyone here very much. Much thanks to him and JD for the boosts of convidence these past hectic months.

Look out! something funky your way comes...

Peace, (the nfo guy)

Awww dude, its cool smile

Does this mean you didnt get my email?

I had the exact same thing happen to my host. I was with a company called ALXHost which gave me dirt cheap webhosting (800mb for $7.77 per month). They got changed over to hostway & promised me a better service. All I actually got was a more expensive service. The price went up to $25 & the host plan also went down to about 200mb (which as it happens does not fit a site with 30+ mp3s stored on the server). Then the downtime began & excuse after excuse came my way as to why my site was still not online, when in the contract it said 99.9% uptime garunteed. They then began to email me every week telling me the site had exceeded the 6GB of bandwidth I was allowed. That was most ridiculous because I wish the site ever was actually getting that kind of traffic & I swear to this day that they were charging me for no reason. My last bill from them totalled at around $120 just for one month so I payed & left their company.

Not that Im suggesting you leave the host but your hosts change is exactly the same senario that mine started with. Just be careful as the world of internet buisiness can get dodgy when it comes to companies being bought out larger companys. Basically, it normally works that your under the new terms & conditions of the new host after the change & whatever agreement you signed before is ignored. Thats why I had my trouble.

Ive found a new host called www.powweb.com & they are too cheap for their own good smile

Best of luck with moving house dude

God bless

Lewis
