I play alto and want to try my chops on playing along with P's songs to make an audition CD ...

What songs do y'all like to play (and what key is it, or what notes start it off). What "tricks", progressions, etc. do P's sax players use?

Being a sax player myself (although years removed), I can remember really only having to know the key in which the song is in, and then it's mostly what flows out of the horn that matters most.

Use your knowledge of the instrument...use your knowledge of the key that the songs is in...and mostly...use your heart!! You couldn't really go wrong if you feel it.
