I was able to get the head for $1399, the cabinet was $599 and the foot controller was $329. That is a good savings, really... the retail prices are $2499 for the head, $899 for the cabinet and $599 for the foot controller.

I am going to sell my Marshalls and they will pretty much cover it. biggrin

How would you compare using the foot pedal to individual effect pedals?

you're one rich bastard, aren't you, Tony... lol

I wish I could jam with you, but I'm over in Sydney of course...

I need an amp like that...

I have a medium sized Peavey studio amp to contend with for a little while at least. And it buzzes, too...bastard that it is.

IceNine and EvilWhiteMale, Line 6 gear is really solid. I've heard "vintage critics" knock it as unoriginal or tinny.

But, I've played the HD combo (incredibly loud and really responsive.

And, I've used the Pod Pro for home recording for about 2 years. Wonderful, crisp sounds when I want the marshall sound, and warm blues when I want the Clapton/Santana/Hendrix feel.

Most days, though, I play my Kinman'd Strat through either a Crate 120-watt combo or my Hot Rod Deluxe (Stevie Ray all the way).

Congrats, IceNine.

Personally I'm real fed up with all those pseudo-SRV tones. In fact, that's why I traded my all-tube amp for a transistor one. Just to get away from that clichéd "Guitar Player Magzine approved" warm tube tone. I used to play a Fender tube amp with a Tube Screamer but I never really liked that sound. Now I use a Fender Prinecton and a Boss distortion Pedal and I'm far happier with my tone. But don't tell anybody, or they'll have me locked away!

I haven't really gotten into it that much, but you can program many different combinations, so you can change and combine things with the foot controller. From what I can see, it is better. I like the idea thus far.

Ice! I haven't heard from you in ages. I checked out the Line6 stuff two years ago and was really disappointed in the sound - sure, it was great at low volumes, but in a bar, the amp didn't carry all that well... but it was the bottom o the line stuff - Flextone II I think.

I wasn't too happy with them a few years ago either... they actually boosted their power to 200 watts last year and changed a few things. The old ones didn't do much for me, but these new ones are monsters!

I'll go check them out when I win the lottery! Cuz, along with buying that setup, I see that I'll need a roadie too. What's it weigh, a deuce? deuce and a half?

The head alone is about 50 pounds... the foot controller is about 20 pounds... the cabinet is just plain heavy...

OW! Can't take that man. That's insane.

I once sold my marshall half stack (TUBE no less) for $400 just so I could get a fender solid state that had casters.

I was young and stupid. Now, the difference is that I'm not so young.

The thing I like about the psuedo-SRV tone is how versatile you can be with it. Lose some OD, switch to bridge pickup and you have a cool sound for country. Boost the drive a bit, switch to the neck pickup and you're ready for a nice, warm "woman tone" like Clapton uses. If you're lucky enough to get something with enough highs to allow for articulation without being shrill, you're in the cat-bird seat.

I played a cool Crate recently that enabled a lot of vintage vs. modern sounds. It was very, very cool. And, if I'm unable to get exactly what I want with my Fender amp, I'm going to trade both it and my old Crate for that'un.

Excellent!

You will, of course, have to take it home to learn to use it properly.

I once traded one of my Paul Reed Smith guitars for a Marshall JCM-900 model 4100 head when one of mine blew up on tour... it hurt.

Now that we have DSL in the studio.
an Amek Angela II console, Focusrite ISA430 Producer pack, Millennia tube pre-amp, Neumann tlm 147, Lexicon PCM 81 and a few other very impressive machinaries...(not to mention Burger Kink around the corner) I don't think I'll ever leave the studio. I've already ordered an Airobed lol

I play through the Duoverb. I like that you can blend two amps at once. The others had too many bells and whistles that I would never use but this is perfect for what I do which is regional touring in small clubs.

That's a hell of a system.

I play through a Marshall JCM 800 cab and a Fender Bassman amp (which takes both guitar and bass). In my apartment I can only crank it to 1 or 2 before the walls shake.

Hey buddy what are you doin here??You re not a musician.owning a guitar doesn't mean you can play.now get off this area and and get on your knees and blow me like last night!
