For anyone who wants to know, a hit in website stats is someone accessing any file on the site. For example, downloading an mp3 is a hit. If you think about it, single visitors would then total up several hits each rather than one per visit. Hits, not to be confused with visits.
I have a stats program like this but I find it gives too much info for normal website monitoring. All I really wanna know is who is visiting, where did they come from, how many 'visits' per day I get & which files are the most popular. I found some folks called Extream Tracking. Lots of sites on the org use them (newpowerradio for example) its free & I can show you how to modify the code so their icon dont show up (unless you dont mind it). The reason I suggest them is that anyone can view it rather than having to be the system administrator to log in & the info it provides is straight to the point & the hits display is accurate as it only counts once per IP address. Up to you Lewis PS. For an example, check out the newpowerradio one on the front page of http://www.newpowerradio.tk & believe it or not, the same thing is on my front page too, just hidden

Yes that's correct. Seeing how this is a one page site, right now, most "hits" are accessing either a preview of a song, or an actual download of the song. See above how Therapy has the most downloads for her one song at 79 downloads as well as your song at #7 out of the top ten at 51 downloads. The statistics pages can be viewed without logging in, I'm just asking around right now, if the listed IP addresses posed any security risk to anyone. When I hear back, I'll post the actual link, instead of copying and pasting the info.

Keeping it cool and simple for this initial release will tell us a little more about the hosting package we will choose to upgrade to.

You need the professional musician translator service: We're working it out on the road during live performances. With the exciting crowd feedback, we're developing the song, it's really taking on a life of it's own as crowds are starting to bring banners to the show with [insert song name here]. It's a really exciting time to be writing new music that's so well received The Last Otan Track: www.funkmusician.com/what.mp3

I think this kind of thing shouldn't be available for anyone to see.
Now I'm struggling not to get inflated about that April stat. It doesn't mean anything in all reality, apart from perhaps create some kind of competition within our own four walls and people left feeling like shit who are down the bottom end. Or not even down the bottom end... Does it make you feel better to know that someone didn't do as well in subsequent months? That angers me. And that anger is the polarity of enjoying a top slot. I believe this is what Prince was aiming to get right out of. Stats create competition. Bin them!!

Well, Therapy, I think this is just cool info for us to have, regarding how many hits the site gets in general.
As far as top downloads go, these stats tell us two things: 1. Since people can't download the whole album at once, or may not want to do it that way, it just shows which songs they picked first. We all know we've downloaded songs, only to find out they were junk and then trashed them. 2. It also shows who might be promoting the site more, as far as, "Hey, check out my track for the New Funk Order...", so their song might get more downloads because they are trying to get people over to the site. I don't think its a competition thing at all. I was happy to be #5, but now I'm like 18 or something. No biggie, because once my remix is done I'm going to put it up there and start promoting the site. No biggie really. Just good info to have, to see what kind of an impact we are making.
