Top ten lists are running rampant in the non-prince forum... so, I figured, what the hey.

I would but it aint gonna look very legit if its just the artists featuring on the NFO that are posting their top tens. Wait n see if some other orgers post, Im just too biased to comment as I am a contributer to the project, I love everyone's track the same wink.

Yeah, but they won't know you're a member until they look into it, and then, they'll comment on it, and poof - the secret is out and folks are aware of it.

GUERILLA PUBLICITY 101!

edit: it's been viewed 82 times so far, so, hey, there's that... as long as somebody posts about once every 4 hours, it'll keep the topic high up on the list.

I put the org names of the artists as to cause some "human interest" (journalism 101), or "orger interest" as it were.

Someone should submit a new article on it. Ben aprooved the one I did about my Prince tribute. But unlike these threads, news items dont go away so quickly & are on the front page for all to see.

& hey, lets not stop at the org:

princefams.com
beautifulstrange.co.uk
housequake.com
okayplayer.com
harmoney-central.com
alt.music.prince
lennykravitz.com

off the top of my head but you guys may want to think about banner advertising here. I do most of my traffic through banners & the search engines these days. Also you may want to think about a yahoo group for the project. They are pretty good for drumming up publicity on search engines & Yahoo pages but also have the handy invite members thingy for email advertising. I use the members directory on Yahoo for addresses.

Another thing thats a good idea is to use an online newletter to keep in contact with our adoring fans. Also use of popular language in search engine terms means to use the keywords you want associated with your project as often as possible in the meta tags & your website text. An example would be my biography page, see how many related artists & music related keywords Ive used. It means that searches for any of those things eventually come up with your site.

I certainly aint no expert & the search engine rating system is a complicated buisiness but these are a few of the secrets behind the success of cloud9mission.com. Hope I can bring the same to all of you. wink

Sananda's website would make more sense than Lenny's. He is a true independent artist and offers free downloads of new songs all the time.

Yes, but he has done a lot more beyond his first record. he got really experimental with Neither Fish Nor Flesh, and his other 3 albums are pretty diverse as well. He doesn't do it in a blatant way, it's more like combining elements, like Sting does. Some songs get jazzy, but their not jazz, some rock out, but it's not just that. Still others have Latin brass sections, gregorian chant, and asian voice samples, although not in the same song, lol. He is quite incredible.
