is it all you? please tell us Sorry. Yes. It's all me. The drums are programmed - well - except for the Tamborine, I'm wailing away while doing some backing vocals in there. Thanks. I LOVE this version, I keep playing it over and over thinking - oh - that's cool - yeah - that too - oh - that's badass - oh man - yeah... just my own ego taking over the room - I've had to ask everyone else to leave the room cause there's no more room for my head!! I was really wondering if they were real drums. I've been using my Alesis Sr-16 piece of shit for years and I'm thinking of upgrading to something a lot less "1990"

I've been using my Alesis Sr-16 piece of shit for years and I'm thinking of upgrading to something a lot less "1990" Hey now - don't go knocking the Alesis. I still have my HR16. The drum machine is from the Zoom MRS-1044. It's built in, so I can record the song, and then go back and redo the drums entirely. Never had that before. I know cakewalk can do it, but I rarely use the computer to record... never powerful enough. The drum sounds are the same as on a Zoom 123, or 234. Really good, but I STILL love the HR16 - 4 outputs, and the sounds are TOTALLY controllable - tune them, pan them, etc. If only they still made drum machines like that. The problem with drum machines today is that they're "pre packaged", pre panned, pre-reverbed, pre-tuned. So you lose control over the drums, which frustrates the hell out of me... I don't like all the reverb soaked drums (like on the SR-16 for example). I'd rather have a separate reverb and assign how much reverb goes to each sound. Thanks for the props. I had fun recording it. It sounds REALLY good when you pump it through a stereo loud enough to bother the neighbors. The Last Otan Track: www.funkmusician.com/what.mp3

This ROCKS!
U have captured the essence of the original number and made it your own giving it a prominent element of authenticity thru appropriation! Much respect due! 'dre Tried many flavours - but sooner or later, always go back to the Purple Kool-aid!

Amazing. Can't believe that's a drum machine. This is super cool, but you know what is missing? The groovy harpsichord part in the background. Just something I'm partial to in the song. And some girl vocals...
But all-in-all, that kicks ass! I love how you end it too, just like the original, but you added your special touch with the solo in the middle.

I really like this, especially the guitar where the flute and synth was in the Prince song. Awesome!
Also, do you think it would be OK if I posted a Prince tribute song also? Peace, JD

Fucking fantastic. The drums do sound very much like the real thing. Good song that needed to be rocked. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

SO, I've decided to put this on a CD to give away, promoting the new band. It won't go on the CD for sale, but would go on the freebie... what's the final word on that? Am I opening myself up to an insane lawsuit?
I just KNOW there's something illegal about it, even if I don't make a dime. MAN I can't get over this song! I know I'm blowing my own horn over and over again, but hey, if you can blow your own horn, going home alone ain't so bad... that's what I always say.
