The American Dream Part 2...

Ya'll! Check this out! Every since Prince has taken his last image, I have been working with King James. Don't know if I told you the story behind it, but anyhow, Last week I had a Paisley Park Experience. Fast forward to now. I was finishing up some work today and saw Prince sitting over on the counter, a thought appeared in my mind.... Is Prince really dead? I went over and picked him up, you know one last go at it. Nothing... ERROR. Then another thought appeared in my mind.... Try this and I followed the idea and GUESS WHAT?!!!?!?!?!?!

I guess it was sort of a karma thing ...sort of....A guy that is staying here, (Jew Dreamfirstborn)... is a big fan of Prince and he has been out to Paisley Park many times. He went with me to the movie premier and then we went to Icehouse for the after-party. About 15 minutes after we got to Icehouse, Jew checked his phone, and he had a twitter thing about a party at the Park..... What?..a party? At Paisley Park? I had been telling him I wanted to go there some time with him...and they are often random...and there was one going on ...NOW !!! Tonight !! So..we left there ,and went out to Paisley Park. Turns out the twitter note was only up for about 5 minutes, but Jew saw it. We knew that Madonna was playing at the X-cel Center, and the thought that she might show up did cross our minds, but, had no way of knowing. When we got there, we were told NO CELL PHONES ALLOWED inside. Ok. Going into the building.. almost more like a warehouse( with fancy furniture and a commercial kitchen and bathrooms etc) Jew asked one of the guards, that he was sort of familiar with, if it was going to be a dance party. The guard said, no, he thought more of a performance since the stage was set up. When we got in, the fee was $40 each...and Jew paid for both of us ....I had provided the ride...or he would have totally taken a cab..so..OK , I guess, and I decided to accept his generosity. So we got there a little after 11 pm...and I was hungry By the time we realized there was not really going to be food there..(the party was too spur of the moment)...it was about midnight and to leave and try to get something like fast food was not really an option.So,...Jew talked to the lady at the counter selling water for $2... (but there were high and low drinking fountains available where I would refill my water bottle later since there was no other drink available than diet Coke), and arranged for them to make us a flat bread and potato thing. Prince is vegan...so, no meat allowed on the premises...and evidently no salt either. It was well done, and I think a true kindness,...but since they have to add sugar to the dough to compensate for using weird non-gluten flour...they add sugar and it burns easily, (even tho I didn't see any burnt spots)...and vegan cheese...and no salt. It was well made, and filling, but not delicious. But, I digress.. Anyway..there are several party rooms. The one where you first come in is the one that was open for the night. It is the smaller one. It is also mostly carpeted...not good for dancing as far as I am concerned. They had a DJ and 2 huge screens hanging up on the walls with kaleidoscope- type images circulating on them. There was a velvet covered bench that was red and black stripes in the curved shape of a long caterpillar...and I decided to sit there, take my shoes off, and put my feet up instead of wearing myself out trying to dance on carpet. The night was young. I wanted to pace myself, and I did. This bench was right next to a little area where there was a rather large table with only 4 chairs by it, one on each side. They were the kind with red velvet with fancy wooden carved tops and fancy wooden carved arms...etc...and there was a HUGE ( like 8 ft long) symbol hanging from the ceiling..you know the one Prince uses for his name sometimes. This whole area was sectioned off with velvet ropes. So, we sat there and "people watched" a long time, with Jew dancing some and me dancing some...but then coming back and sitting down..waiting for something to happen. All this time there was security...and this lovely girl ( very thin, young, tall woman with cinnamon-colored skin) wearing the most delightful fluffy white outfit with, sparkling skirt, and a little sparkly corset top that left her midriff bare (and accented her tiny waist), and sparkly shoes...so...you couldn't NOT notice her moving around all the time. Turns out, that she was working with the security for Madonna"s visit. So about 1:30 am...Madonna came in with about 40 people and sat at this table I was next to...(the one that was sectioned off). Soon, after she came in, she started to peel off scarves and coats and a lot of people ( not the public) came over and hugged her there. She was smaller than I had imagined. Now, seeing her next to other people, and not front and center on stage and in flat shoes. Soon, she sat down and was brought a cup of tea by the same woman that made our flat bread thing. Not too long after that she was escorted out of that area(probably to go to the bathroom and maybe meet up with Prince) but in doing so, she had to slide past me (sitting there with my feet up)...and she brushed against my stocking feet...Wow? She came back and sat and talked to people and stood and listened to the music and watched the people dancing ( because NOW everyone was really showing off their dancing and being very bold and dramatic. And ,she kind of bopped around a bit...but also, seemed tired. She had already put in a long day, and rightfully seemed a bit tired, but, still so beautiful, and young for what I think is about 60 summers. Shortly after this, I looked over and saw this tiny woman in a lovely, a very ornate robe, with black and white woven designs and a hood. I could tell it was expensive. Lovely. Then, I realized it was not a woman at all ! It was Prince. He is so VERY TINY...and he can't wear high heels anymore since his hip replacement...so...he is like...5 foot nuthin tall....but a formidable presence anyway. So, with in about 10 ft. to my left, there was Prince, and with in 10 ft to my right was Madonna. Wow? Soon, Prince got up on stage and everyone, (including me now), went forward to the other side of the room where the stage was and listened to the concert. Madonna went with the crowd, but was then quickly ushered to the front and ultimately just sat on the edge of the stage to listen. Prince started on the left side of the stage and played one keyboard there and sang, then on another song, moved to the front and played the guitar, and then to the right side ,and played a different piano thing and back and forth with his guitarist ( Donna) and his base player..forgot his name even tho Jew introduced me...and the drummer ( no idea who, but, he was good and had fancy lights in the drums). Prince, giving them each a chance to solo. Anyway it was about and hour or a bit longer and it was now after 3 am. I think that Madonna somehow signaled Prince that she was ready to leave. Prince asked for the lights to be turned down...but no one responded..so he jumped down himself and ran to the back of the room and dimmed the lights. In doing so, Madonna could get up and off the stage and join her entourage, say goodbye and leave. Almost everyone decided that the evening was probably over and we were among them. We went out to the car and saw the 4 tour buses leaving. It turns out that later Prince came back and played 2 more sets. Oh well. It was late, and we were tired, and we got to see Prince and Madonna I had never seen Prince perform live and really had no real appreciation as to what a good musician he is...hmm. That's nice. He deserves to be rich and famous. He just needs to get someone to take care of his hair better. Poor thing was having a very bad hair day. So..that is how it went down last night.
