While its true they owe us nothing... it's still sad because although they may not see a whole lot of it, a lot of people love them and love the show

damn estate should have treated them well, as they have contributed so much to the Prince community!
I mean they couldn't send 4 early copies of SOTT ahead of schedule to Australia??? smh [Edited 11/20/20 17:18pm]

Just guessing here, but FWIW, I would think time could easily be a factor. I would guess that many, many hours went into making each P+B podcast.

Who suggested they owe us anything? That's a strawman argument. Of course I'm curious as to why they shut down. And obviously I would have liked to have heard a final show for the sake of closure. But I've never suggested they have an obligation to explain or produce a final show. I've never implied that we fans are entitled to those things. I'm simply interested and perhaps a bit concerned.

Agreed. We deserve to know if this is just temporary or not

I mean did anyone even listen to the end of the last show? . https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ij8jF2KlEf8&t=0m29s . it's right there if you can be bothered to pay attention, plus the ending after the music, I haven't seen ONE person comment on that ending yet . It may not be the ending you wanted or expected but it is an ending .

I am missing what was so definitive about that episode ending. Was just a normal ending.

Has anyone considered they didn't want to make a big hooha about the end?
I know they were considering a finale show but that didn't pan out so they decided to just slip away into the night quietly, I like the understated ending of the last show,
with the footsteps walking away and then the door slamming shut - Perfect

For some reason that reminds me of the ending to Prince's song Big City... "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato

The last episode was an old recording that they'd never gotten around to putting out yet. See https://twitter.com/capta...8393225218

. Correct and when I asked them about the end of that episode, the reply was when they realised that was the last episode, they redid the ending to what you hear now. . Not to mention ending on a Prince deepcut reference like Arboretum! is classic peach and black .

end the series on a non-album tracks episode? bruh.
if cap doesn't care to edit anymore, I volunteer to edit lol just send the files to me and I'll get to it eventually, make some notes to guide me in the right direction

I just thought of something, if Cap and Playa are spinning off into their own podcast: 'Superchuckamania' perhaps Rob Esse (MC) and Toejam can do their 50% of P&B for the SOTT SDE?... they shouldn't replace any, but if half of them just wanna call it quits, I don't see it a problem if the other half wants to continue. Just don't replace the other two
sure, it won't be the same. but thats better than nothing, yeah?

I follow Captain on Twitter. He's been being vague but I'm under the impression someone in the community had something to do with it but I'm really out of the loop. Anyways, thanks P&B hope you come back someday

Given you contacted them to ask about the last episode, it seems that you were looking for an explanation. Perhaps you can answer your own question.

Wow. This is so, so disappointing. I'm sad. Really. I've spent countless hours listening to that podcast. Over the years, I've listened to all the episodes, except maybe one or two. . They were fun. They were clever. They were insightful. They were not afraid to say critical things, even when Prince was alive. I don't want to say bad things about the other podcasts/channels, but Peach & Black was certainly unique in that sense. . A new Peach & Black episode was always a nice surprise for me. It would brighten up my day. Really. I am not exaggerating. . So, yeah, maybe I should have told them that before... Anyway, if they decide that's the end, then so be it. I'm really grateful for everything they did. . They don't owe us anything. That's right. But it would be nice if they gave at least a hint about what happened. Ending the podcast with an episode about non-album tracks is a bit anticlimactic. Especially given their name and the recent release of SOTT SDE. . Does it have anything to do with the Peach & Black Plus version of their podcast? Did it fail to meet their expectations? I guess so. I see that Playa closed his Twitter account... Captain/Toejam are still (somewhat) active on Prince.org... Anything you might want to say about this topic will be appreciated. [Edited 11/23/20 2:55am]

. Mmmh, Superchuckamania. Ok, just listened to the first few minutes. It seems clear that Captain and Playa are not interested in recording ultra-long episodes anymore. Rob has his own podcast. Now Toejam really needs to do something. A podcast. A YouTube channel. Anything. . But, yeah, it wouldn't be the same, that's for sure. [Edited 11/23/20 3:05am]

I made a notification. On the comment section on The Prince Podcast YouTube channel, episode Vault tracks 3, a signature by the name hopeless writes this:
"Congrats guys! All your hard work finally paid off, peach and Black podcast are gone!!!" What the hell is that about? [Edited 11/23/20 12:26pm]

look I talk to Captain all the time, i've known him for maybe 9-10 years now . some reasons mentioned in this thread have some truth to them and some are just ridiculous, just understand they might not want to (nor do they have to) reveal every single detail i wasnt going to say anything at all, but i couldnt keep reading some of the crazy speculation posted here without saying something .
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
. Well, I guess most people here don't know Rob, Captain, Playa, and Toejam outside of the podcast. I don't follow them on Twitter/Facebook/whatever. I just discovered yesterday that Peach & Black was over. On Prince.org. If you just say that you stopped the podcast "for multiple reasons", without explaining them, people will speculate as to what those reasons are. It's simple as that. They don't have to reveal anything, but they should at least understand that many people liked their podcast and that it was kind of a crappy way to end it.

This sound more like a trolling comment than anyone who want to clear up something. Most comments are very resonable and most of all express their disspointment to the fact that the show has ended ... nobody demands anything, but many are curious why a great show like peach & Black stopped ... all of a sudden ... without explanation ... that's it ... and than you come to tell everyone they should chill ... hahahah ... the world up side down ....
