Strive

He's talking about the 1999 Deluxe sticky. All related topics on here get herded to one megathread for some reason.

This podcast is SO WELL DONE. Total treat, guys. Andrea, the host, does a great job. Episode 1 has Bobby Z, Dr Dink, Dez, etc. One thing I never thought of that was well-fleshed out in the episode...

Prince launched into the 1999 Project full of pain, piss, hurt, and vinegar RIGHT AFTER the humiliation of opening for The Rolling Stones... The Kid had something to prove...

It actually has audio recordings from The Stones shows on the podcast. You hear the angry crowdand chaos.. Amazing stuff...

I'll listen to it omw home. Only 30 min wish it were longer. I'll see if there is anything new from this that the Revolution (all of them) didnt mention on Questlove's podcast about the Stone's concert.

I think that was speculation, at best, especially in regards to the vocal on the original Irresistable Bitch. They imply it sounds the way it does because he was pissed about the Stones gig, but they have no way in hell of knowing that. Maybe he was just experimenting with vocal delivery. Or he could've been pissed about something else, if he indeed was pissed. It makes for good folklore I guess.

It was very well done regardless, and I can't wait for the next part.

This was so well done! Got excited hearing clips of the vault tracks.

I listened through Apple Podcasts. I've never used it. Does anyone know if the episode can be saved/downloaded?

Careful. Such sarcasm will get you a ban.

I might even get one for saying this.

why would it be on the front page when you can just bury all the podcasts here ?

which is effectively what it has done, nobody even bothers posting here anymore

Hard to believe I've been on the org for over 25 years now!

Right? I've been coming to the Org since 2002 and I've hardly ever been in this forum before.

Episode 2 now up. Putting it here so that EVERYBODY will see it.

As Prince pulled away from the spotlight in the winter of 1981-1982, his creative drive began whirring faster than ever. Hear some of the never-before-released material recorded by Prince during this prolific era, alongside stories about his two early '80s workspaces: his home studio on Lake Riley in Chanhassen, Minnesota; and Sunset Sound in Los Angeles. Host Andrea Swensson interviews Bobby Z., Lisa Coleman, Duane Tudahl, and Peggy McCreary.

.

He didn't have a "1999 project". He was constantly recording new songs and 1999 hadn't even been written at that point.

The Roling Stones shows were a few days before the "Controversy" album was released. He would not (as far as I know) record any songs for 1999 until January.
