Yep. :I: used mine on a lot of stuff :I: was recording in 2000.

:I: do not yet have the golden throat Heli Talkbox thing so :I: have used my Behringer Virtualizer EFX unit with inbuilt vocoder and my Casio CZ-101 as the carrier signal with various sounds :I: programmed myself.

:I: have used the "Orange Vocoder" and "Fusion Vocode" too.
:I: do like the latter although, :I: do stick with my Behringer/Casio arrangement as :I: have more real-time control over my own sound.

Click below 2 have a sneak peak at one of the tracks that utilise both criterion (requires RealONE).

"Inside Outside" (2000)
Uses the Behringer/Casio combination of vocoder

Conceited Superstar" (2002)
Uses the "Fusion vocode" plug-in

Awright, I give. Whats the difference? Vocoder: Peter Frampton, Do You Feel Like I Do, right? Which is the same doodad ROGER used, right?

And then there's the Talk Box, is that Afrika Bambataa, Planet Rock, PAC JAM, etc?

So, what's the doohickey that Cher used on "Do You Believe?" because my Cher Tribute Band ("HALF BREEDS") does a cover of that song and... naah, I'm just messing with you.

But I am curious how they make the notes jump like that... is THAT a talk box?

The "Talk box" is a trade name.

Conceptually it is the same thing.

Cher used a Digitech Talker for "Believe" which looks like a guitar pedal - mayB trying 2 emulate the heli talkbox and bypass the tube.

I tried the vocoder on the new MicroKorg keyboard and it is darned impressive btw. Just a footnote!

Did any1 C that thread about creating your own talkbox? has any1 tried it?

I built one similar to that design long ago, using a milk carton with the bottom cut out to put over the amp. Works pretty well... but, having never used the real thing, I have no sense of comparison.
