NEW POEM - I CAN'T REMEMBER I can no longer remember any of our conversations. I admit I do not try. I can no longer recall any of our notes and letters, It’s as if I let them grow old and sick and die. I can no longer remember the smell of your cologne, The one I used to love, I can barely recall even the image of your face, Or the sound of your voice, my love. In your absence, I learned to forget. So pay attention: Stay absent, lest you do something you may regret. I marked my calendar a year ago to write this poem, Though I don’t even recall the significance of the date. Hell, I can’t even remember what the point of it all was? Nor the reason for all the hate. That’s not to say you can come back, In any capacity… in any form. You deserve to be estranged in your cowardice, Always subject to my coming storm, For despite the fact I no longer want your company, I’ve long ago lost the longing in my heart, Based on principle alone, a return into my Universe, Will result in my ripping every shred of your confidence apart, I’ve deleted the calendar entry, and giggle a little at the ridiculousness of it all. An illusion, based on desperate longings for connection? A fantasy that never was, a union laughable in it’s absurdity, I can and have found better ways to satisfy my erection. It’s funny since we once planned a life together, That I don’t even recall if you have a middle name, Nor the number of your siblings, And I’ve given away all the gifts you gave me Without any feelings of guilt or shame. None of these things are closure of course, Just mere pageantry and fashion, But what let’s me know it’s finally over, Is the fact that I’m writing this without any hint of passion. Expert Lover. Oh pleease. Stop with the illusions. Oh yes, you do remember every last detail of the miserable/not so miserable- time spent together. At least I'd think you would. Then again, it's a poem written from someone I don't know, yet reading between the lines...you're attempting to move on. This one I gotta save. Thanks for posting.

I like the idea and the purpose of it all.
I'd like to do something similar and kind of shrug off everything that ever made me cry about one person, but someone I don't even want to connect on that level with that person. Maybe in one year, maybe. Very nice and funny read! Thank you.
