What's the best multi track recorder? ...and the easiest to work with? i am considering buying one...
also, anyone know of any good voice synthesizers? sorta like devices that alter the voice and add cool effects.

Just yesterday I bought a Boss digital. The thing is fucking incredible! I plug in my guitar, (or Drum machine, keyboard...) dial up a tone, push what track I want to record on and hit record! Easiest thing ever, and I'm just playing with the buttons at this point and it sounds amazing. $700 at the Guitar Center. Highly recomended for home recording.

I got a Boss BR-8 Digital 8-track (perhaps the same as Zums). It's cheap (US$700), piss easy to use and has good built in guitar, vocal and keyboard effects. You can even bounce tracks, meaning record 6 tracks and transfer them into 2, then another 6 into 2 etc etc. So you can have about 24 tracks or so without losing much quality. It sure beats that crappy tape based 4-track I used to use! Toejam @ Peach & Black Podcast: http://peachandblack.podbean.com

Roland VS 880 digital multitrack...I bought it 6 years ago for $2,500 Canadian bucks...Now they retail at $1,200 can funds...Tons of built in effects for vocals, guitar, bass etc...I am recording my first CD on it now...Highly recommended. It's an 8 track, but you can bounce down, and get way more tracks than you need, with NO sound degredation...Check out the recoring quality with my pre mixed music...
