time to step up to a digital model!

they're getting cheaper and more powerful all the time. the ease of use is well worth the investment

I have a Tascam. It sounds to me like a channel of your recorder is damaged. I can record and playback off of the recorder just fine. The only problem I have seen with digital is that there are some real time "pops" in the sound on some digital units. You will have that with analog as well, but at least on analog you can control that with an external filter. However, any way that I can make music is fine with me, be it digital, analog, open air, whatever.

I've had a Roland vs-880 for about 6 years now, and even though mine is totally obsolete by now (half a gig memory!!!) it's still fantastic for my little demos

I'd recommend some roland recorder on eBay, definitely

my friend also has a new Akai, I believe, he likes it a lot, it's got a lot of bells and whistles

look around

Just yesterday I bought a Boss digital. The thing is fucking incredible! I plug in my guitar, (or Drum machine, keyboard...) dial up a tone, push what track I want to record on and hit record! Easiest thing ever, and I'm just playing with the buttons at this point and it sounds amazing. $700 at the Guitar Center. Highly recomended for home recording.

If U record on Track 3 or 4 then it won't play vocals in your tape player.

Record on Tracks 1 & 2 if U want 2 hear your vocals on a conventional deck!

But turn your tapye over and play it on your tape player...

If U R using 9.5ips, then U will hear what U have recorded really slowly in reverse.

If all else failz, contact the DreZone again!!!

:I: used an early version of the TASCAM porta 2 2 record about 100 demos in 1998 - WITHOUT SMPTE time code! U need any help, then :I:'m here!!!

yeah man,
my poor TASCAM 4 track.
Big heavy thing. Thought it would probably
live forever...
Now it won't playback/record on track 3 sad
The belt that drives the deck is slipping also,
so I now use it as a mike board to record band
rehearsals smile

aahhh such memories...you need to make another tape from your line outs to hear it in a normal cassette deck...i've owned a few of these years ago before i moved to digital...love em...even if just for sentimental reasons
