Sounds & FX?

People I need your knowledge about the following topics:

-I know what kind of guitareffects Prince uses, but how are they connected? When you connect those Boss-pedals it makes a lot of difference in what kind of order you connect them. (Destortion first or last...? etc...). Does anyone has information or how his guitarset-up is really structured? Are those effects (like 'pillow talk') custom-made or is it for sale? Anyone spoke to Taka?

-Also I would like to have info on what kind of Keyboards he uses. (with modelnumbers as well if possible). Does he stick to the analog ones or are they digital well?

-Finally I need some info on those superphat drumcomputers he used to use. I know he like those Linn-drums a lot. Got any info on that as well? And what time in his career he used to make music with that.

Any info on this would be great! Thanks in advance...

Peace, newdawn

I would love to know how guitarists make their instruments talk. And it's not just rhythm and pitch, because you can actually hear each syllable pronounced. And I've seen it live to.

It weirds me out!

TRON

There was a description of Prince's pedal board setup in Guitar Player magazine from 1999.

I'll see if I can dig it out and give you the low down.

Rudy

you can make the "talking guitar" sounds (Peter Frampton, Richie Sambora) with a pedal called a Heil Talk Box. You run a little medical tube up to your mouth and mouth words as you play. To do this you'll need both a guitar amp and a PA system.

However there is a new pedal where supposedly you don't need the PA - you can just use your guitar amp. How well it actually works, I don't know. It's made by..Danelectro, possibly? They crank out tons of great new gear at outrageously low prices - check them out.

Roger Troutman use the Heli Talkbox with his DX-100, and U can get them around the Internet for around $170 USD.

:I: thought about getting one but eye use my vocoder in my Behringer EFX unit with a carrier signal that :I: programmed on my trusty Casio CZ-101.

:I:'m not sure about the Danaelectro pedal, but the mose prominent pedal :I: have heard about (and un4tunately made famous by Cher), is the "Digitech Talker" pedal.

Check out the review from Sound On Sound magazine on more about it.
