We guard
Our precious memories
These nostalgic points of light,
Worshipping them
Like a city of gold
That never was
And laugh out loud
When our children try
To live up to these moments
And fail (miserably)
We give them an ultimatum:
“Like it or lump it”
Well, fuck you hard
For trying to concealing the third choice
Not accommodating for anything
Unless it conforms
The dichotomous dye cast
Don’t tread on my future
To protect your past
