33 is young.
There are a lot of great players that didn't take formal lessons. Personally, I think getting a teacher is best. But if you're interested in non-classical music... ie: jazz, blues, rock and roll etc... then be sure to find a teacher that teaches that style (not someone that only teaches classical piano). But there are a lot of resources on the internet and youtube though. Here are a couple of beginner videos (lots more on youtube): http://www.youtube.com/wa...JjWqTuuamc http://www.youtube.com/wa...Zfjg-HQA2k And here's a site for piano lessons: http://www.gopiano.com/ Have you ever watched Scott Houston the piano guy on tv? I think he's great. Try the self-taught route for a while... but if you find yourself spinning your wheels, then maybe think about getting a teacher...

Buy a piano.....and start playing. And find someone that will teach you the fundamentals by showing how to play songs you like. You're a little old for "Mary Had a Little Lamb".
