Does That Make You Feel Good?

I dig it. I don't dig it. I think I'm pushing too hard on the singing. I need to get more laid back. Or more laid. No - no definitely more laid back.

Nice track...Nice Hook.
Everything, but the bridge, makes me feel good.

"bridge" being the solo? How can ya hate a solo. Or the stops after the solo? I'm confused.

Where did "hate" come from? I like the solo, but everything up to that point has the pop potential. What's a stop?

So how would it sound if you didn't push too hard on the singing?

Now I'm curious.. lol

You know - that whole "sing from your diaphragm" thing they talk about. This is quite the obvious, I'm controlling everything with my throat, sounds like I'm competing to be heard over the instruments... and way way over eager to get the message across. In general it's just pushing too hard. If I reset the monitor mix so I can hear myself better while recording, I can relax, don't have to work so hard to hit the notes... it just doesn't seem to mesh well with the music. The vocals are all INXS on crack when the music is more like the Time - so I should approach it like that. Morris hits notes in that range, and it's nowhere near as pushed as this.

Not comparing myself, just saying, for reference, if Morris sang this song, it wouldn't sound like Michael Hutchence on crack.

And... WHAT'S A STOP?? It's where the band stops on the one (right after the guitar solo, those four spots where the bass and guitars hit the root note and that's it while the vocals continue. What's a stop? Seriously? You're messing with me, right?)

Only a tiny tiny bit....because you were so sensitive about your song.
I was laying the groundwork to mess with you more today, but it was going to be a dumb joke and I'm not really in the mood for jokes today. I do like the song though. The hook is a sticky one.

Thanks for breaking all that down. It was enjoyable. Now, what's a "one"?

This sound like it would be really good live. I'd a turned up the guitar. Sound like it's muffled. U always gotta way of making your drums sound like they are live and real. I dig the ending too.

Unlike Mr Paisley, I think the drums sound too polished and the mix overall is just too nicely EQ'd for me...I'm looking for more dynamics from the low (kick & bass) and then too much reverb on the vox in comparison to the rest of the mix. Turn that solo up, change some volumes, give me some contrasts...

As usual, you've got some great chops and I like the song with the smooth harmonies.

Then again, what the fuck do I know, I use one mic in a room. lol

Well, let's put it this way....if it doesn't mesh well with the music, then
by all means leave it as is.

If I were you, I'd stay away from the Michael Hutchence on crack comparison however lol

I'm thoroughly enjoying the track as I speak.... thumbs up!

Beau,

I really dig this tune...great production, slick lyric writing, very cool guitar phrasing ,tone and wah manipulations. I really dig the walking bass under the guitar solo...very Jimi, which is a VERY good thing. This one will go on my ipod...keep up the excellent work and hope to see you post some more hip stuff like this in the near future!

I dig it. Beau, you've got one HELLA Manly voice! That's right, I capitalized Manly. You have a great sound, this song is cool as is, bro! I actually dug the bridge with the walking bass and the guitar solo as well.

Really nice! Refreshing, actually!

hey not to beat awesomeness into the ground, but I redid the entire song, slowed it down a lot. My only whine is that the bass is too damn low.

Beau! Your voice sounds TIGHT on this one! I'd leave it, especially cuz the vibe of your singing matches the vibe of the guitar and drums. I think if you were to pull it back some, it would lose some of its intesity and on a track like that, that would be a bad thing.

As for the solo section, maybe it's just because I'm listening to it on some crappy computer speakers, but it sounds kinda disembodied. What if you put some sustaining rhythm guitars in there so they could round out the harmony while letting the bassline provide the motion?

Overall, great track dude!
