The dulcimer actually makes a beautiful sound.
Now try bringin' this one onstage or into the studio.... It's called a windform and it's 6 meters or 20 feet long.....

THIS IS NOT a pic of guitstoopid!
This is called the chapman stick, there are several different versions of it But I thought this picture would be fun for this forum. These are , in a nut shell, 8, 10 or more, string guitars and bass's in one funkified instrument. You "Tap" it or play it kinda like a Piano in your lap, or standing up as so perfectly pictured

groovyiau said: The Bonang One of the lead instruments in Javanese Gamelan music. The Bonang is composed of a double-row of horizontally mounted tuned bronze kettle gongs and is usually played with two padded beaters (tabuh). This bonang belongs to the Southern California band "Monkey C" who play their own brand of Alternative Gamelan

This fretless bass was inspired by the Chapman stick, a multi-string instrument that is played by slapping the strings with hands and fingers. The Animusic Bass Stick has only one string and uses self-playing round hammers to pound out funky riffs. Both the graphics and the music are entirely digitally synthesized. Virtual instruments are invented by building computer graphics models of objects that would appear to create the sound of the corresponding music synthesizer track.

I'm trying to "see" French horn in that pic...not happenin' for me....
Violin was my high school instrument....they wouldn't let me in the band where I wanted to be...said I didn't have the right kind of mouth, whatever that meant...anyway they sent me right over to the orchestra teacher and seeing as how I played violin in junior high, he put me right back on it.. Not my choice, especially since I was a lousy violin player...the orchestra teacher soon figured that out.... He was happy I'm sure when I joined the acappella choir the following year and dropped orchestra....choir was much better. Sawry, I got off on a tangent here....must be a touchy subject for me... So, were you a good French horn player? Yup, those feathers could tickle the underarms I'd think....
