The sun coming up is good music....

My opinion has always been there's 2 different kinds of music, good and bad.

If I feel a vibe on any level, it's good music. Even if it's not the vibe I most relate with but I feel it anyway, it's good.

Plastic, fake, non-feeling music, drum machines and music that has too much use of Protools, bad music.

Somewhere between derivative and original makes good music. Something that's similar enough to something else that it's not so abstract that you have no clue what it is, but it's not so similar to another song that it's clearly uncreative.

But even then, wtf. I love The Cult and those guys are Chameleons. I loved Jesse Johnson, and that man was nothing but a mimic. Conversely, I can't stand anything Lenny Crappitz does, because he's nothing but a mimic. See? One is interesting, the next is just uninteresting. What's the difference? I have no clue.

something that touches me on the inside. a beat, a texture, a feeling, a message, a vibe, an attitude, a boldness, a hype, a sincerity, a catch-phrase, beautiful sounds, raw funk....

something that moves me in the same way making love does. It can either be tender, harmonious and involving, making my body sway,move, want more or aggressive rhythm that reaches in and demands a response like singing out or shaking my ass. You can’t scream at me or shout in my face unless you can back it up with something that really turns me on. Like most in-your-face RAP. You better be able to back it up with some good beats and licks - otherwise - not ever honey, I got a permanent headache for that stuff.

I personaly tend to dig songs that sound like there was work put behind it. Thought, emotions, structure, message, etc. Songs about physical human nature such as sex and violence has been a little too worn out and formulated for my taste.

Also, I'm a visual artist so I find what is good music (to me) is what grasps a concept and in turn verbalizes or melodicly illustrates to my ears an "audio painting" so to speak.

This commercial crap out now really doesn't cut it for me. The formula has worn its welcome for my ears.

Good music is music that touches me in some way. Can be either acoustic or electronic music, doesn't matter to me. It's all about the feeling the music gives to me.

Honesty and emotion.
If an artist is not scared to be him or herself and is able to share pasion music whise with others.

And ofcourse it's a little important for me to be able to relate to his or her emotions
But even if I can't I can still think the artist is good (might just not like the kind of music)

If it's void of any emotion then it's not working to me. Most music is a rollercoaster ride of emotions and you can tune in or out but the ride is always running.

Also I mentioned drum machines as void but I've heard DJ's convey emotion with 2 different records, so scratch that (pun intended).

I love performing first, so anything that makes me wanna perform, IMO, is a good song. I know thats a bit vague but

Funk. And, soulful pop.

Good music to me is music that pulls emotion from me, sends a chill down
my spine, or just makes me wanna get up off my chair and dance....
