How do you get the Prince "synth" sound?

FOr those of you who do Prince/related artist covers, or try to get that 80s sound yourself, what have you found the best way to get the signature SYnth sound?

e.g. for songs like Jungle Love (or any fast time song), DMSR, 1999 etc.?

What synth and patch do you use?

I have a classic Motif and some of hte sounds come close, but none really get that oberheim sound?

And do you use more pitch bend or mod wheels?

Just curious.

i don't dig tryiing to recreate 80's classics but...
Moog would be the first place the start
I suggest looking for some reason 80's refill packs

the only thing that tickles my fancy from the 80's are LM1 linn drum samples
which you can get ... anywhere now

Oh yes... very cheezy on that song. I used Fatsondo on that

I like that synth - but it's kind of buggy, perhaps they have come out with an update. I remember I was giving Cubase a try - what a nightmare that was. I produced some cheezy screams of frustration trying to work with that program. biggrin

That synth is off of my Korg N364. It's called "Rezzo 4ths". I play everything live. I loop my drums but other than that, even though I like repetition, I play everything real time then go back and quantize everything.

that's awesome that you have that song on your iPod -
biggrin Hearing that really lifts my spirits, I'm glad you liked it.

About Fatsondo... I don't really know if I can reccomend it, download the demo and check it out. It had a few cool presets, but I don't know if I could tell you to buy it. Try downloading a few demos from the link below.
