Okay, we've mentioned it before, but we've never really done this. Let's put together a PURE collaboration among Prince.org artists. Each individual artist can put together a track and add it over top of an ever-growing song. If you don't have the equipment to do this we can find someone like Kelly or Geoff (from Bumper) to put it together digitally, so no matter what your equipment is like, we can most definitely do this, even if it means mailing a disc to someone.

We could come up with a band name! Let's do this. Who wants to lay down the first track, and what should it sound like? Ideas anyone?

why don't you add a tempo, and a key structure, so the musicians have some kind of guideline
plus it'd be supremely easier to mix in the end process

Don't think it's lazy...everyone works differently. Seems you have to agree on a way to work.
Maybe start with the foundation (loops, if that's what you do...Something more if you can do that).

Next phase, maybe upload a few tracks,.mid files, .wav files etc...and anyone can download and build on, but not complete.
These can then be uploaded for the cycle to continue.

It's not the ideal way of working but each can respond to the pieces that inspire them...and it seems like it would be fun, if nothing else.
If I weren't tone death and rhythmically, lyrically, melodically and vocally challenged, I'd play along.

This seems to be all in fun but you should all agree upfront, that if the songs turn out to be really incredible, and you decide to sell them or something...that you will copyright and divide things equally, give the monies to a charity, use it for an org gathering...whatever.
Don't want to put a damper on the spirit of this project but it's good to get that stuff out of the way, upfront.
