The dorian scale is a very cool thing.

Miles Davis used to write his famous classic tune "So What" off of the album "Kind of Blue".

Carlos Santana also uses the dorian in the hit "Evil Ways".

In C the scale is built C D Eb F G A Bb
or 1 2 b3 4 5 6 b7
the chord progressions to use under the dorian are Eb/C F/C or
Cm7 to F7 or
Cm7 to Dm7 or any combination to get the dorian modal sound
quality.
