Moderator | My New DVD Just got the 1000 units via UPS today. I've spent the entire morning/early afternoon going through each one by hand. 230 were either broken or scratched. Judging from 3 of the boxes, it looked like the UPS guys used them to play football around the warehouse. The other 7 boxes were just fine though. I've been working on getting this thing distributed since April. The city and the festival finally agreed to split some of the cost and now they are ready for sale. I REALLY, REALLY pushed hard to get these ready before November to get in some Holiday sales, but that didn't really work out the way I planned it. Too many approvals ... Oh well. But hey! It's not to late if anyone may be looking for some last minute stocking stuffers so keep a look out over here later this evening for the ordering details. I'm sure I'll "sticky" this puppy. It's going for a good cause. http://streetpaintingfestivalinc.org/ Street Painting Festival 2006 BABY! This is the 12th year of the festival. This will be my 10th year doin' it. Last year and this year, I've been on the committee. The website, T-Shirt design, and now this year the DVD are all my responsibility. On top of it, I'm also a contributing artist come festival time. I have four articles to write for the major newspapers down this way and I have absolutely no time to do it in. Before, they gave us until the end of January, now they want it by the first of January. I'm stressin' a little. On the plus side ... Do you all remember Cbabi Bayoc? He's the guy who did the cover art for Prince's "The Rainbow Children". He will be one of the featured artists this year at the festival. I had the honor of talking to this cat a few months ago and he'll be making it down to some warm South Florida weather the last weekend of Feb. Talk about meeting a hero! (for me anyway) I didn't want to say anything until his travel arrangements were confirmed so I'm pretty excited about that. He said he had a few origianls that are sketches right now that he'd like to take a stab at on the pavement. Oh there will be photos. Lots of them. I promise. This is performance art like you've never seen it. Think of it as street dancing for painters ... or something like that. PEACE! Kelly All Rights Reserved. |

Thanks man! I feel like a musician getting his first album released. There are two versions or packaging rather. 800 units are the standard DVD packaging with the outside sleeve. 200 units are in a jewel case with a booklet and the clear spine has a peice chalk in it that was actually used in the festival to create one of my past works. So the marketing tag line will be "Take home a peice of the festival" or something like that. All Rights Reserved. |

Moderator | Oh yeah, did I mention Frank's Monster of a Band was recorded live from the mainstage and that's what I'm using as the background music?
Yep. It kicks butt, if I don't say so myself. Proceeds will contribute to children's cancer research and/or strait to the bass player of Frank's band who lost his son the day after his 2nd birthday this past April. I haven't decided yet. As well as ... to an art scholorship fund that the festival has for the local highschool and a private school called "School of the Arts". All Rights Reserved. |

That live stuff from the festival is brilliant to include as well. Again, congrats, I hope it's the first of many productions.

great news Kelly. I thought UPS only hated me. They completely lost an entire box of our CD's when we ordered 1000. They still haven't shown up. Also, we had several damaged boxes and for the most part every box had incurred some damage. UPS sucks! Anyway, good for you and your project.

I have the UPS insurance guy coming out sometime today to inspect the damaged ones. I played back some of the DVD's that were scratched and they skiped a little here and there. I was going to use some of those as give-aways to promoters, vendors and sponsors if they played back ok. I'll need those replaced now. All Rights Reserved. |
