Radio Interview tomorrow - help a cracker out.

I'm being interviewed tomorrow morning here in Atlanta about my upcoming release*. For those of you who've heard the stuff, (www.beaurocks.com) which ones really stick out? Me, I love them all and I'm going in circles trying to figure out which tunes to play.

It's a blues radio show, so the stuff has to be loosely blues-based.

So, then, I think one of the two with harmonica should go in there, and then I want to do a rawkin one - but Oh Face is a little too strong to play during morning drive time on a station targetted at 40-50-somethings. SO it's probably Superhot Ladycop. Or Hell and Ecstasy.

And then I want to do Can I Get Some Lovin, only because it's so funny to me, but, maybe I should go for the delicate side and play "sometimes I cry"?

In the past on that station, I've played:
- Sometimes I Cry
- She's Too Rich For Me

SO, I could play those from the new record and maybe people might remember them, might not.

Anyhow - for you three who've heard the whole thing - which ones really jumped out and smacked you in the face? Which would you remember after only hearing once?

"Whatcha gonna do" and "Superhot Lady cop"

Yep. Those are the two. I've gotta several head nods at work from those two.

You might even want to do "Watcha gonna do" live on the air then play "Superhot Lady Cop" from the CD cause of all the production values.

I had 4 songs picked out, but I gabbed so much that I only got two songs in - Hell and Ecstasy and Too Rich. It's a blues show, so, Hell and Ecstasy, with the slide guitar in the middle made sense, and Too Rich with the harmonica solo - who knows...

NOW that I've done it, of course, I would rather have done just "Can I Get Some Lovin" all by itself and then done a live song on the guitar, but hey, hindsight is 20/20 and all.

I locked my keys in the car while I was there, so the Wife had to come bring set me free. Whew. It was awesome though. I love radio interviews, I just need a coach to help keep me on track instead of gabbing about minute details.

"Can I get some Lovin'?" is still my fave. You actually should've covered "Rub My Pants" acoustic!

So....haven't you a knock out girl friend that could dress as a Superhot Cop to hand deliver to all DJ's?

Sorry, nope.

As usual, I woke up 10 minutes before the interview was supposed to start, so I made it to the station with some serious BED HEAD going.

I love the power of radio!

I think a friend of mine recorded it, I'm not sure. I'll check, see what he's got.

Basically, here's the script of the interview:

"So, BH is back in the studio with us today to talk about his new record. So, Beau, I understand you played for some 2 year olds last week!"

"yeah, it was fun blah blah Barney ABCS Twinkle Little star, play the first song on my CD"

- Hell and Ecstasy -

"So BH, what was that song about?"

"blah blah girlfriend break up make up stuff, blah blah blah talked WAY TOO MUCH about stupid stuff in the studio"

"oh that sounds like you had a good time!"

"blah blah talked way too much about the good time in the studio instead of playing another song. oh, hey, play the next song"

- SHE'S TOO RICH FOR ME -

"well thanks for coming out Beau. Blah blah the CD release party way off in August sometime, blah blah the CD isn't available yet but we'll keep people posted!"

I wish I'd pulled back on the blah blah and spent more time playing songs off the CD. Dumb move on my part. Everytime I hear an interview on the radio, I just wish they'd play the stupid songs instead of gabbing about names and studio stuff etc, and wow, there I was, doing just that.

Lesson learnt!!

yes, hopefully they WILL give U a second round. I don't encourage doing radio interviews UNLESS THE PRODUCT IS AVAILABLE.

Enjoying SuperHotLadyCop.
Being a guitar freak the funk guitar is lovely + a great 'Hendrixy happening' in the middle. Shouldn't sit here reviewing all this, publicly , but I'm loving it.
Uhhhg!!! Track 4. Gotta Get Some Lovin ? .
Laying back and soaking it in...
