in the neu world in the neu world - you will not equate work with earning a living... this is very important... every human being has a deep drive within them to demonstrate competence to themselves and to others... it’s going to be the greatest privilege of all in a new kind of world like that - to be allowed to be on the production team... it will have nothing to do with earning a living, nothing to do with upset...
we’re talking about a new kind of socialism, a socialism of six-billion billionaires... it’s not a socialism of pulling the top down and sharing the misery - its a matter of pulling the bottom up and doing so, only because we now can do so much more with each pound of material, each erg of energy, each second of time... the increase has been about 99-fold - that’s the only thing that makes it possible... so it’s a new moment in the history of humanity... that’s what is difficult to get over... if this can get you in enough so you can personally look into it a little more, then part of your integrity will be for you to do your best to get other people to realize this is so! you’re going to find there’s an enormous number of people who don’t know this is so, that we actually have the option to make it... http://pure-research.net/organic/ money is the negative backing on the collective psyche of humanity. Okay. I'll admit, I've become a negative person lately towards you, and it's not me, it's not nice, not kind, so I'll drop it.
What you're writing about appears to be a combination of Socialism and Communism, where everybody shares the wealth of the nation equally. While on paper this appears to be an amazing concept, there have been few successful attempts at it due to corruption and human nature. I think anyone would jump at the chance of a communal profitability, except, maybe, for those who feel that they've worked much harder than the rest. How can you take from a person who spent 12 years at medical school, and tell them to share with the dude who dropped out of high school and "barely gets by"? I realize both are having to earn a living, put in 8 hours a day, and both are human beings who deserve a good life, but the doctor would probably argue that they've earned the right to earn more. My predictions about the future - I think fully functional Monarchies will come back. Not the pretend one of the UK, but a real monarchy. George Bush is pushing for that right now, and if it continues down that path, in about 20 years, America will see another revolution, from one party or the other, and they will sieze control of the country, and opposers will find their heads on spikes, outside the White Castle. It will be a reign of oppression instead of enlightenment. But, if allowed, more people would find profitability after about another 30 years, but then we'd return to a society of serfdom, or slavery. Not of a race, but of class. The lower class will no longer make money for their work, instead, they will become indebted to their bosses - eventually changing the name Boss to Master. The Master will provide shelter and food for their serfs, and the chasm between the rich and the poor will grow even wider. That's just my vision of the future. I'd say it's a far cry from yours. I wish I could believe that your future is possible, but it relies on the goodness of every human being, the clarity of thought and the kindness to strangers that just doesn't exist on a large scale anymore. Just my opinion. I suppse this thread should be moved to politics and religion instead of the Artist Community. SW - I apologize for being a bastard to you about your views and your opinions. You are certainly entitled to yours, as I am entitled to mine. Tell me more about your future - I'm sincere here - how will this future come to pass? How will people move away from the general mistrust of strangers and hostility towards people who are different - how will those walls be broken down? www.beaurocks.com Trees are made of WOOD! | |

Moderator | Still ... earning a living is a MUST right NOW in THIS day and age. My kid still has to eat. So do I earn my money working a job I hate? So why not do what it is that I love to do?
My family came over on the boat and were stone carvers. They were paid to produce an "art" for monuments and architecture. Honest days pay for a craftsman's craft, I say. I still give my personal art away though as well as help people with their own and yes there is huge reward in that. All Rights Reserved. |
