STARLIGHT (That's 2 Funky) / THE BIRTH OF RE

Hi everyone,

I was ill and had two days off work so I maganed to record 2 brend new tracks. I'm still very amateurish at music so please be merciful smile
Listen to them HERE:

http://www.soundclick.com...lmusic.htm

1. "Starlight (That's 2 Funky) is just me being inspired by an old school funk. Naurally I don't come even close to the way their funk but I think it came out FUN. Somewhere around 2:00 you should hear piano solo which I think adds a bit to the song. Maybe I'll add vocals later. Give me your opinions on this one.

2. "The birth of Re" was inspired by instrumental soundtracks (which I love) and pics of Egypt by night. It is supposed to be gloomy/sublime but hey, you tell me what it is. The pattern gets sligtly irritating (according o my friend) but don't skp it. Listen till the end to get the whole effect. Hope you'll like it.

I'm looking forward for your feedback.

Hi Rushing, what's up? I have just listened to your two new tracks and this is what I think about them:

Starlight: You've got that funk for sure man, really nice groove. The only problem with it is the lack of gear that you have, the presets are so recognisable unfortunately. My advise: save up for a synthesizer or get Reason on your PC. I could help you out with the latter if you like?

The birth of Re: This sounds like some orchestral piece for a movie. I like the way you have constructed it, although I would never make something like this. Still nice though...

Good to hear some new stuff from you, my man.
RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...

I wrote a longish thank you thread with quotes, wit, glamour and other fancy-shmaltzy things but I got d/c and everything went to waste. So I was very . . .

Well anywayz I just wanted to thank you for your time and critique. I think I need to teach me some of that Reason. The problem with me is that I have literally no time for music lately. That's why I use the cheapest presets from the main bank of whateva soft. It still sounds better than my keyboard wink

I love playing and arranging but production and mastering is just not my thing. Besides I know I'll never be able to emulaten real istruments with my mediocre piano playing (like guitar, I got used to the midi FunkGuit1 sound lol ), so I kinda gave up on it.

Now I'll defenetly record some paino only track. We'll se what happens.

Once again, thanks for your comments. It's always a pleasure to learn something from people like you. Made my day, man.

Later.

PS. What so you think about Stevie Wonder's latest cut? I know I love it.

"Re" sounds like it should be part of the Stargate theme. I enjoyed it. It took me on a voyage. "Starlight" is well conceived. Well put together. It sounds alot better than the stuff I listen to on the local smooth jazz station everyday. Good work.

Starlight

I like this groove! Just add some vocals or more soloing and the track is on an even higher level.

The Birth of Re

I'm not too much into film music at the moment but I think you did a great job. The theme is very memorable and the variations are on point.
