NAMM Show 2005 Won't be doing a product review because I didn't get a chance to roam around much except to briefly visit some friends in the morning before the herds were let in at Mesa Boogie, Fender, Digidesign, Apogee, Roland, Peavey, MOTU, Steinberg, Cakewalk, Forat and Groove Tubes...
...Aspen Pittman gave me a "Fatfinger" and a "PowerPick". Basically, every guitar, keyboard, amp, accessory and music making software was on display. A veritable playground for musicians. NAMM Hangtime (some folks that dropped by)... Rhonda Smith (Prince) Renato Neto (Prince) Ricky Lawson - drums (Yellow Jackets, Steely Dan, MJ, Phil Collins) Alan Evans (middle) - drums (Soulive) & Eric Krasno (left) - guitar (Soulive) Marva King - vocalist, songwriter, actress (Prince, Diary Of A Mad Black Woman) Reggie Hamilton (Seal, Herbie Hancock, Stevie Wonder), Steve Bailey (Dizzy Gillespie, Paquito D’Rivera, Kitaro) and Oscar Cartaya (Willie Colon, Tania Maria, Spyro Gyra) These guys did a stellar bass trio performance. Jeff "Skunk" Baxter (Doobie Brothers, Steely Dan) Also worked for the Department of Defense as an adviser to the Ballistic Missile Defense Organization. Dave Mustaine (Megadeath, Metallica) Sinbad (comedian) Other artists, that I can remember, seen floating around the show... Stevie Wonder - everything Carlos Santana, Brian Wilson, Joey DeFrancesco, John Blackwell, Peter Frampton, John Legend, Lee Sklar Shows Black Eye Peas performed for Digidesign Carlos Santana performed for PRS Guitars Did CES in Las Vegas (mostly audiophile stuff) a few weeks prior to this show. I'm friggin tired. Maybe some pics in a few days. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...rmusic.htm [Edited 1/28/05 20:38pm] "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. I've heard some are having latency issues when midi recording with it? Also have you heard of Amp Farm? Its a Pro Tools guitar efx plugin. What do you think of the amp/efx modeling on it? Tnx!

What the hell is a "fatfinger" and "powerpick?" I've never heard of them.

For FLUX and artist08
Fatfinger: Increases sustain by adding physical mass to the headstock of the instrument. Works on electric and acoustic instruments. Installs in seconds without tools. Will not damage your instrument. Adds tone, sustain, and overall tone balance. Fatfinger for bass is 20% heavier than guitar model. Helps tune out dead spots. Guitar model is 3.2 ounces, bass model is 3.8 ounces. PowerPick: The Power Pick adds mass to your pick. Clamps on in seconds .... adds 20 times more mass to increase string volume by up to 5dB. http://www.groovetubes.co...gory_ID=30 For FLUX and psykosoul (aka Groove Master General): You guys will have to pay the extra charges for my luggage being over the weight limit. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...rmusic.htm "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. Am I on the wrong coast or what! Wow, looks like you had a great time, my man. Jealous. You got it mate. Winter NAMM is at the Anaheim Convention Center. (right across the street from Disneyland. How appropriate!) www.namm.org Summer NAMM (July) has been in Nashville but I think this year they're changing it to Indianapolis. It's fun but tiring simultaneously. After the 1st day of giving the same product spiel 1000 times, it starts to wear thin. Then you see someone like Stevie Wonder pass by or you're standing next to Rhonda Smith and you get re-energized. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...rmusic.htm "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. ( ? ) Are these Product review conventions that you attend work related, & only for Music Industry peeps, or general public show's ? I remember you attended one a few months back, which was an awesome event , with wall to wall celebs. and gear also. For FLUX and psykosoul (aka Groove Master General):
You guys will have to pay the extra charges for my luggage being over the weight limit. P.S. As I'm in Oz I wont be hiding in your luggage, just wishful thinking. ~PClinuxOS~ I've been here longer than I care to remember, ... I drop in from time to time, ...

Yes they are work related and the shows are intended for manufacturers, buyers and the press. However, the general public always manages to gain entry. Especially if you know somebody. It was actually quite a lot of fun (now that it's over). If you moving here bring plenty of cash. Anyway what is you opinion on the Roland V-88? I've heard some are having latency issues when midi recording with it?
Also have you heard of Amp Farm? Its a Pro Tools guitar efx plugin. What do you think of the amp/efx modeling on it? I'm probably not the best person to ask as I work for a competitor. (rather not say who) Roland makes great products though. All i've heard are good things concerning Amp Farm. The Nomad Factory Guitar Amp Legends plugin is another modeling system you might want to look at along with the Guitar Amp Pro plugins (Logic). tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...rmusic.htm "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn.
