GEORGE CLINTON at umbria jazz 2004 (italy)

hi there!
can i ask you to help me correct this article?
i do know i made a lot of errors translating it from italian to english.. smile
THANK YOUUUUU!!!!!

George Clinton at Umbria Jazz (Italy) 2004

Afronauts with their mothership were in italy and to be careful they landed at Umbria jazz in July the 10th 2004. If you lost the George Clinton & the Parliament-Funkadelic only date in italy in years (and god knows for how longer), you lost your occasion to wake yourselves up from the torpor, the greyness and the daily stress just to be overwhelmed by an heavy wave of Pure Funk energy.
The concert had no moments of pause or relax (in the positive sense), it was pure adrenaline from the beginning. Rather, before the beginning. After a sad and dated opening by the ORIGINAL BLUES BROTHERS BAND (only 3 or 4 components of the band were truly original from the first film) and a long change between the two bands, the first signal this would have been a concert with no survivors was the drummer’s (one of three!) apparition on the stage, who presented the band and the concert and with a simple but evidently sufficient “PERUGIA MAKE SOME NOISE!!!” made people go wild with a scream, making the Arena San Giuliana foundations move.
It was now evident the guests of the perugin kermesse were not there for the Blues Brothers Band but for George Clinton, and it was truly a nice discovery to find out italy has a passionate community of funkateers.
Since the beginning of FUNKENTELECHY the public sang the song knowing the lyrics perfectly, said that certainly they’re not as famous as the ones of Britney’s last hit.

Overwhelmed by a crowd listening no reasons towards the security, journalists in the first line had to make their work quickly before being pushed farther on the barriers by the dancing mob, totally dominated by the immortal power of the P-funk.

A band with 23 members on stage (including 2 dancers) hold the bank for nearly 2 hours and a half, entertaining people without rest with the presence of Sir Nose D’voidofFunk, the moments dedicated to Benita Woods and Kendra Foster and various surprises like seeing a 60 years old chorist doing somersaults or Clinton asking for smoke (and not sigarettes).

With 8 to 20 minutes songs, more than a concert it was a party and this has always been the concept behind ONE NATION UNDER A GROOVE or THE BIG BANG THEORY (saying the origin of the universe was given by a P-funk party, SO powerful that it generated life). With no doubt, i tried it on my own person, P-funk must be enjoyed LIVE, that’s what it’s all about.

Difficult to capture pure energy in analogic or digital way, it’s the same difference you have if you look at a picture of the moon or if you put a foot on it. The music of a Parliament-Funkadelic LP or CD gives you a 50% of the concept itself of the funk (even though 50% of infinity is always infinity), a party must be lived, if they tell you about it, it’s not the same. And the sense of all this is that deeply identifying with the meaning of this party is an experience similar only to ecstasy, to that coincidence between phisical and spiritual, substance and metaphisic which George Clinton perfecly summed up in the phrase “FREE YOUR MIND AND YOUR ASS WILL FOLLOW” in the 70’s. Finding ourselves out united under the same roof, with the groove being the glue, a common enemy to fight (sir nose) who wants us to be stupids and soulless, who wants us not to dance, not to have a good time, not to let the energy of mother earth flow in our veins and the sunglasses as superheroes dressing-up, they’re just metaphores of our will of freedom, of breaking the rules and refusing the standards of those who doesn’t want us being thinking beings but sheeps in the flock, obeying to orders of moral, religious, political and social severity; metaphores that help us freeing our minds so that our asses would follow.

FUNK CAN’T ONLY MOVE, IT CAN REMOVE again said Clinton; funk can Remove the atavic mental indolence they make us grow up with, the indolence of who doesn’t make questions ‘cause he wants no answers, which is translated in the removal of the phisical indolence of not dancing.
In the African tradition, dancing has always been a fondamental component of the religious and every day life of common people, not a fashion to exhibit designer clothes in the discos. For African-american people also, in the rhythm and blues times, dancing was the way to forget problems and go wild after a hard day working in the cotton fields. George Clinton’s funk translates all this in philosophy, in religion. A religion having DR. FUNKENSTEIN as GOD, STARCHILD as his disceple e SIR NOSE as the devil.

If you lost the only italian date of George Clinton & Parliament-Funkadelic, you’ve lost the most ravaging experience since your first kiss, whether you like funk or not.
