Another new song - advised by Otan!

Otan helped me a bit with this concept - I wanted to take an 80's classic and change it and make it fonky. I added ANOTHER 80's jam to the same extended funk jam, thus the title of SEXY RAIN. If you hate it remember that Otan made me do it this way...hahaha. Actually, I just want to present this to my band and perform this live. Dig if you will...

Sounds Yummy to me. ( 6 minutes ! ) You almost achieved the 9 minute Funk song!
Only thing i thought was the mid range could have been lifted, as i had trouble hearing the rhythm guitar and stuff. thumbs up!
P.S.Don't listen to otan, he don't know nuthin' about this music thingy lol
peace
~PClinuxOS~ yes I've been here longer than I care to remember, ... I drop in from time to time, ... thumbs up!

Yep, I mixed down once, listened to it and deleted it. It was kind of distorting a bit. I mixed it back down using the "live" setting on the Zoom and tried to tweak it in Soundforge, but probably didn't do a very good job. It's definitely not one of my strong points. Thanks for the feedback, Flux!

Dynamics. Dynamics. Other than the vocals, the groove and music stays consistent, which is cool but you gotta put something else in there, or take it out, to make the song more interesting on record. Live, you could lay into the groove for hours, but on record, you gotta try adding a little something from one song to the next.

Also - the "Live" setting on the Zoom tends to soak the whole song in a stereo chorus buttery goodness. Which can really busy up your song. I've been messing with the "PlusAlpha" and "Disco" settings - the song i sent you is with the Disco setting I think. I'm not sure what's the difference - a little more mids, more bottom for sure, and no chorus.

That's my feedback on it. I'm going back to sleep.

It kills me seeing you guy's uploading on a daily basis , and having to wait. confused But on the positive side it's cool to hear eveyone's stuff, and an incentive to keep trying wink Gonna keep listening, creating and playing, listening, creating and playing, .....Music that is .

Tim I love your funky side. This is a jam. I like the way you put the old school references in there. This is the kind of music that attracted u 2 Prince. The other material on your soundclick page is more eclectic.

I burned this to CD and was listening to it in the car. I think the guitar is too low and keyboards may be able to come up just a touch, too. The vocals sounded better when I was recording them...now I cringe. LOL. Since I sorta changed the key (sorta) I've got to make some melody adjustments. I don't know how else to explain it.

Cool! I agree with Otan about the dynamics. It didn't change until the One on One part... where you drop out the music. That's 2 minutes into the track and I think you should do something like that sooner.

The ending is FUNNY! Beeeyatch! giggle

Yeah, I had planned to do something sooner, but mixed it like shit. I need to remix and probably redo the vox on this. Maybe add a little something to separate the trax? Keyboard riffs maybe?
