"Jackin for beats..." Long story short, this guy at Acidplanet.com remixed a song of mine without asking permission or even letting me know about it. I left some comments for him, but he didn't seemed all to thrilled about me giving my honest opinion:

Im glad u caught that brutha If he asked I would have let him. Half of the songs I have up there are just demo tracks just to get an idea of what music of mine people are interested in. It's just the whole principle of it. Oh well. | |

man that is crazy. it's not the first example of "beat-jackin'" I've seen on the web. Unfortunately, imitation is the highest form of flattery. But on the flipside, it is also piracy. It is one thing to flavor a groove in a familiar mode but to outright "use" someone's music in a sample or remix without permission is an offense that deserves a whooping. His response was kinda wack too. The song came up with a copyright notice ( sony 2004 ). | |
