"Perfect" totally re-recorded song in new arrangement (UPDATED 23rd Sep!!) This was the first song I put up on SoundClick and the org Artists forum, way back last year some time. I engineered that version pretty badly and though I'm no expert at producing, I think I've done a better job on the sound this time around.
So, I've totally re-recorded it (meaning it's not the same as the old track) and given it a new arrangement and I'd like to know what you all think... Click on the link in my sig to find it on my music page! . [Edited 9/23/04 19:07pm]

I think this song is great! I like the vocal arrangement. The guitar could be turned down, or the vocals should be turned up, i couldnt understand what u were sayin that much.
I love when it breaks to "oooh, u make me happy..oh yeah!" That's my favorite part. Straight Jacket Funk Affair

Moderator | Sounding better and better. Great work!
The song is catchy. I tend to overdue it often so take this with a very fine grain of salt: I'd like to hear the chorus with some layered vocals. A backing melody (keyboard/synth?) Dig it all the same. All Rights Reserved. |

Dig it all the same. yeah, I had thought of doubling up the vocals on the chorus...and putting a countermelody in the verses....actually the previous version of the song did just that...so yes, I think I will do that. thanks!

Hmmm This has endless possibilities. I can see where your going and this could be hot.
The combination of the funky guitar riffs/solo and the smooth melody is a great idea. The bassline bottom is perfect, but the melody could be stronger. Its like I can hear a great melody and your touching on it but you kinda hold back and dont develope the melody to this songs potential. I think as a whole this is really cool, good structure, song concept, the lyrics fit the music. With a name like little wing you know I caught that Hindrix line in the solo..; ) I would just work on developing the melodic parts ecspecially in the chorus more. Then this is will be as good as anything else out there. peace

that's two people who have mentioned Hendrix! I don't really see where he fits in to this song though....the solo? or where? that's cool if you hear that, but there wasn't really any Hendrix inspiration... perhaps it's just inherent in my playing, although I'd say Prince is a bigger influence on my playing (but I guess he was influenced by Hendrix anyway!).

With a name like little wing you know I caught that Hindrix line in the solo..; seriously, which line would that be? like i said to the other guy, hendrix is not a huge inspiration, except when i was just learning....i guess maybe he's stayed with me? thanks though...i'll take it as a compliment. I would just work on developing the melodic parts ecspecially in the chorus more. Then this is will be as good as anything else out there. peace ...will be "as good as anything out there"....wow, that's one of the best reviews i've had....well i'll bear your suggestions in mind and i'll be back with a new version soon! . Ok check it out guys, I've added extra harmonies, cowbell, some tambourine and some linn drums to fatten up the bottom end. I think I finally finished it!

Nice chord progressions and guitar licks. Vocals are nice and clear - nice layered harmonies, etc. I can dig it!

thanks man, i worked hard to get those vocals clear...the earlier versions were pretty muddy...so i appreciate the compliment cause that's what i was going for on this final version.

i remember the original. (wheres the sax gone?)
i think you could do without the harmonies in the verse, bringing them in to add effect. the electronic percussion is a bit busy at the start (fluttering sound or is it the tambourine). i can tell right away your influenced by prince on the guitar. sounds a bit like the sign of the times sound (not the main solo though). some of the solos get a bit lost because the riff (with a similar tone) is playing at the same time. its just my first impression, could change on listening a few times. a nice song though, a really different arrangement to the first one.

well, i'm currently visiting portland, oregon (i usually live in sydney, australia) and I didn't bring my sax with me...simple as that! i think you could do without the harmonies in the verse, bringing them in to add effect. the electronic percussion is a bit busy at the start (fluttering sound or is it the tambourine). i can tell right away your influenced by prince on the guitar. sounds a bit like the sign of the times sound (not the main solo though). some of the solos get a bit lost because the riff (with a similar tone) is playing at the same time. its just my first impression, could change on listening a few times. a nice song though, a really different arrangement to the first one. thanks...i'm leaving it as is for now unless i totally re-do it for a fourth time (!) with a live band. i'm pretty happy with it.
