yeah I don't hear Danny Torrence in here nowhere. No Redrum, no Shelly Duvall, hell, not even Scatman Corrothers.

what a rip...

They're just being guy's wink
I've listened to a couple of you tracks,(you've got so many!) and i gotta say your voice is so compelling..., you've got an eighties avantegarde PoP, thing happening (oops, i mean 21st century pop) .I love it ! Plus 'Telephone', lot of effects used in a natural sounding way, very clever, with lyrics to match! Thanks 4 the groove sun
~PClinuxOS~ yes I've been here longer than I care to remember, ... I drop in from time to time, ... thumbs up!

This has a Kate Bush meets anthematic 80's pop (T'Pau, Heart, Martika) kind of feel. I don't know if you'll take that as good or bad - and, I don't know if I mean it as a good thing or a bad thing. I feel like a lot of your material is rock solid pop but always strays into that anthematic kind of stuff - like Wilson Phillips stuff... which is just too fluffy to me and yet I'm in awe because when I try, I couldn't do this at all.

And yes, your voice is just amazing as always. The things you do with it are very impressive - willing to do wierd things with it to make the song more than just fluff... the one thing I'd say to push it further into that edge would be maybe to use more contemporary keyboard sounds? I don't know. And I don't know if you're even interested in pushing your sound beyond 80's dance anthem stuff.

I would totally expect this song to appear on Pretty In Pink II or something... hmm, maybe something darker like the Breakfast Club II - The Lunch Club?

STILL I'm impressed with your work.

But sheesh, at least get a sample of "HEEERE'S JOHNNY!!" in between the choruses...

Hi Otan,

Thank you for your review - I appreciate you took the time to listen to it and give your honest critique ...

I would absolutely love to get a new keyboard - have done over 60 songs on a KorgX5D..

Am now fighting off nausea when I record stuff cuz I've heard those same sounds so many times ...

Unfortunately I can't afford to get a new keyboard or even a more current sound box - so I guess I just try and re-invent the sounds I've got - and try to place them in some kind of context to the song itself when I'm recording...

And your right about the vocals - I ty to mix it up a bit so the songs dont sound just 80's but more timeless ?? Maybe ??

Thanks for cutting me a break on the Jack Nicholson thing ... loved the movie but my fragile heart doesnt know how to read you guys sometimes doh!

Just thinking - one other thing - I suppose because I have no aim to be a big ' pop star ' is one of the reasons I haven't updated my sounds - cuz I haven't felt any pressure to 'keep up with the times' ... and then I wonder ..

What ARE the times ?

Would still love new sounds tho ...

Take care and thanks,

PB

P.B.

I'm constantly amazed at the depth and scope of what you create
in your music. For me, this song is tight and the lyrics are fantastic!
I can't believe all of the wonderful songs you get out of your set up!

Keep up the great work and I can't wait to hear what you make next!

peace and Blessings,

I'm only saying more contemporary, less Yazoo. The bass is the first thing that stood out like a sore Moog. And actually, if you go listen to some newer bands like The Postal Service, they've taken the 80's electronic sound and gone backwards with it so it sounds older (like late 70's electronic maybe?) so, by contemporary, I'm not saying get a sampler that will play authentic-sounding bass guitar sounds, I'm saying that the canvas and use of colors in your song - if you could somehow select something less obvious for the bass. I dunno exactly. I get the same criticism all the time, so, it's funny that I'd even be the one to comment on the 80's sound.

So. Hrm... dunno.

I know exactly what you mean - often I use sounds that arent the actual sound - like a bass sound played up high on the keyboard as chords etc..

Didn't think to use a less obvious 'bass' sound on this track - dunno - maybe Im just tired.

Thanks again Otan - will keep it in mind when I do another one.

Cheers,

PB.
