Super slow funky bangalicious - "God" kind of thing I DUB THEE SLOBERT. (I've decided that all my songs will start with an S, and make no sense).
http://www.blindslim.com/...lobert.mp3 (OH SNAP a SKIP around 3 minutes!) This is another one of those soundtrack pieces I'm working on for a really depressing short film. I mean, LORD this track is depressing. So I thought, "hey, what makes a soundtrack sound super depressing? The Perfect Solo!" or whatever. Hey it was one am last night. Extra points for trying to use something other than organ, rhodes or piano - HEY! This has VIOLIN kind of stuff in there! And 7ths!! WOO! I'm fricking OFF THA CHAIN! Next I'll use a melody line that's not pure major scale. But not on this one - I don't want to get too far ahead of myself. My guess is, this track will be rejected. This is far more instrumental, less "score" ish. I need to learn when to NOT play. The Last Otan Track: www.funkmusician.com/what.mp3

Can't leave you hangin even if I'm doing a quick lurk once in a while while trying to get some work done. First before we even get to the music, what the hell is that picture? [SNIP: My first moderator action, congradulations! (Yamomma) ] Maybe I just need to start dating but it took me looking at that image 3 or 4 times before I could even come up with that. Now the music, I really like it and not just because it reminds me of Prince. I like the contrast of dark (minor) keys with a wailing guitar solo tied to the riff that the keys are playing. Backwards loop in the beginning is pretty cool too, it makes me think that the whole thing was a dream (maybe I'm reading too far into it) Just moody and a rainy day vibe, I love music conveying any vibe but this vibe (I'm identifying with it) and it's kickass but that name needs help. Slobert = Q-bert (the 80's video game) This is the one (out of the two) for movie soundtracks, IMO

Moderator | 4-D ultrasounds are so cool! It's like the MODERN modern art photography. or somthing.
At least you can make out the 10 toes. I see the nose, cheeks and mouth in the back. We had one done with my boy back when That's my son in oven with his hand in his mouth. Our luck, the lady that did the procedure, was her first day, so they didn't come out so good, i thought. Pretty cool this technology stuff... Too expensive this time around with me being the only one working. I'll have to make up for by buying her a pony one day, I suppose. (or a drum set) This one is just scary cause it looks like an adult in there: http://www.medical.philip...d_ob_1.jpg This one is kinda funny: http://www.medical.philip...d_ob_3.jpg Oh yeah, the song! Cool seems to come out more late at night, doesn't it? I don't know about you, but it's when my body is being strung out it's limit, is when all the ideas, seem to show up in my head. I've heard some people relate fasting to reach a more spiritual consious. Well, I like fried foods. Staying up all night kinda does it for me. All Rights Reserved. |

yeah - I have the advantage of having a wife who DOES this stuff for a living. I'm getting weekly updates on this kid, in 3D: http://www.funkmusician.c...y&catid=29
I just wanted an odd image in the post, and sure enough, that's an odd image of his face, almost sucking his own big toe. People pay lots of money for ladies who can do that... YM - IF you happen to be coming through the ATL with your pregnant wife in tow, I can arrange something for you. Cool seems to come out more late at night, doesn't it? I agree - the sleep-deprived state definitely brings out some great stuff. Unfortunately, there's a high price, the day after. I'm running on fumes.. [This message was edited Thu Jul 29 13:15:35 2004 by otan] The Last Otan Track: www.funkmusician.com/what.mp3

Meaning in two weeks instead of the MONTH I was promised! I want my money back. Thanks for the offer, I might have made a weekend trip up for that! I think they are only good up until 30 weeks right? After that, there is less room and fluid to get a clear shot. All Rights Reserved. |

Moderator | I betcha we could start a web-cam site and charge money for this! I heard of some website that charged to look at the bottom of the ocean and made a bundle.

Actually, I've been itchin to find SOMETHING to moderate in this forum. You guys are just too good, clean, nice and productive. But that's ok, really. Some of them other forums are a full time job! Oh, and I know you didn't mean anything by it. Just found your description a little too descriptive, if that makes any hoo-ha. All Rights Reserved. |

Moderator | By the way Beau, I've meant to tell you for a while now how much I've dug the stuff you write on your websites. Keep em coming!
Still waiting to hear your CD for "Music for Riding Next to a Bootybump Ride" The "Free Speech is dead. Long live Bush" Thread had me in tears a couple of nights ago and I might have to "borrow" your Funkronology. All Rights Reserved. |

The chronology thing is supposed to be a work in progress, just, you know, haven't touched it since I put it up. I'll let you know when/if I update it. Thanks man. what a cool tune! Those pics man... I don't know - Maybe if they got rid of the flesh clay hue, yikes!!!
I really liked this piece, very melodic. I like that guitar tone, -- I'm going to have to come up with a cool guitar tone. The tone is very close to Prince's and it works so well for melodic and expressive playing. Great sustain and breakup, more importantly great finger work. Enjoyed the tune!

Aww thanks man. The tone was almost a plain old preset in my Zoom recorder, (SLASH of all things). Added some hella-delay and rolled back the distortion some and the high end as well, and here you have it. If it were going through a live amp, I'd bet it would sound even MORE like the tone from "God". The Last Otan Track: www.funkmusician.com/what.mp3

sounds kinda "Alexa de Paris". remember from the scene in "Under the Cherry Moon" when Prince and Girl was dancing on the top deck of the boat?

Hey, this DOES sound a lot like God! Coooool. I like it a lot and it would fit perfectly in Purple Rain. There are so many different styles of movie score composing... this could go into a movie like Once Upon a Time in Mexico. He uses a lot of guitar. You're right, it's more of an instrumental, but more and more independent films are using original instrumental music. At least that what I'm noticing lately.
Cool piece. The guitar is beautiful, and I like the drum pattern, but it might be too loud.
