Sounds like it will be very critical. It's no secret that Prince, while loving his hometown and fellow Americans, is not fond of the US political system, the media and various aspects of US culture. That much was already obvious in his songs, but I think spending so much time in Canada has made him even more critical. It remains to be seen whether this is what the title seems to suggest.

Wonder if he saw Fahrenheit 9/11...

Anyway, I was figuring that he'd do something soon...isn't it almost like an upload every 3 weeks or so...or at least 2 a month.

If it's as good as Magnificent, that'll be cool. Anyone know about Black Sweat? Apparently he played this in concert a few nights back.

Yeah, The United States of Division is kind of a oxymoron, atleast a contradiction of sorts. But it makes some sense when you think about it, and that's unfortunate.

If this is the 'virtual b-side' to Cinnamon Girl, does that mean Cinnamon Girl will be released with no actual b-side? That seems a bit stingy, what, not even an album track? What about the virtual b-side to 'Call My Name'? Is this the first time Prince has released 2 different singles at the same time in different countries?

It's "Magnificient".

I think it's cool that the b-sides are to be downloaded only. Prince deifnitely tries other ways of distributing the music.

Well, didn't some copies of the MUSICOLOGY single have ON THE COUCH as the "B-side"?

I think the correct question would be where is my "Virtual B-Side" of Call My Name?

Yes the promo was like that, but there was never a cd single released. NPGMC did the vritual b-side of Magnificent that costed 77 cents. Very good song.

Musicology WAS released as a single. I bought mine from HMV and On the Couch was indeed the B-side. Disappointed that the tracks are EXACTLY the same as on the album, was hoping for decent edits. Not sure if it was an import or not 'cos theres no mention of country of origin on the disc or sleeve. For anyone who cares, the catalogue number is 674923 1 and the barcode is 5099767492314. Hope this helps people track it down, but it is for completists only. Mine cost £3.99.

Why is "Cinnamon Girl" going to be the next single? I think this is an absolute mistake! It's not my most song on the album, but regardless, I just can't hear that song on the radio. If u'all think Musicology was a failure, CG will be a stinker.....I can smell it a mile away whofarted

yes, so perhaps he should become politically active rather than tell audiences that there "ain't no use in voting."

Smart move by making it an NPGMC download. Frankly, i don't care if it's a dance tune or not just as long as he keeps his creative juices flowin! And the title is right on point!

nod
Is it too much to hope that this track will mark a turning point, i.e. he'll pointedly speak out with a more positive activist stance? I for one would love to see that. Guess we'll just have to wait until July 4 to see what it's all about.

Oh god - anyone else expecting this to be really embarrassing lyrically - Political statement-wise he's definately no bob dylan - he's far too insulated to create anything with a political statement that isn't a joke (it's one area he's failed REALLY miserably time and again)- Sign O The Times was the only statement type song that DIDN'T suck donkey cock

Everything's been going too well for too long this year, i guess it had to happen...

Time and again? I can only think of one or two vaguely 'political' songs - Ronnie Talk 2 Russia, Radical Man, Dear Mr. Man, The War - and most of those are pretty good.

Sorry, I completely disagree. I'd much rather have a full quality CD track which I could digitize myself. I have not yet downloaded anything from the NPGMC, and continue to resist, in (all likelyhood false) hopes that the tracks will eventually be release on a disc I can buy...
