Converting WMV to QT files?

Has anyone tried to convert the WMV files to Quicktime? Just wondering if this is possible and how it's done. My WMV files work fine, but i have to close all other prgrams b4 watching otherwise the video gets slowed down and not in synch with audio. Just thought that QT would be better...

You can, with a program like Adobe Premiere, though it's expensive. There are also a few cheaper applications available on Download.com that will do this as well. If the WMV files you are playing are DRM protected, you will not be able to convert them (well, not easily at least). When you convert the file from one compressed format to another compressed format, you'll probabbly loose some quality as well.

Before you try converting the files, you should try and optimize your system. Go into your System Configuration Utility and disable any programs you do not need running in the background. Also, run a few spyware/adware scanners like Ad-Aware or Spy Sweeper to remove alot of junk that can be slowing your system down.
