I got it.
Using MAC OS X
Media player 9

Two things.
1.) control click the download button and select "save target to disk"
2.) Had to rename the file to add the .wma extension to make it work though.

Xpectation, Slaughterhouse, TCI, C-NOTE, Controversy and the Bataclan single. all fine (though a minor hiccup in getting Xpectation licence).

now just wait for CD version of the album I was really interested in. by the way, £19 for 4 albums and 2 singles seems pretty bloody good to me!

my tips for you:

    get a broadband/LAN connection
    get a decent processor
get Windows media player 9 plus all latest updates.
    login to the club
buy your tracks and download them
    keep your internet connection open
add the tracks to your windows media player library
try and play each one to get the licences (you should only have to play 1 track from each album to get a licence for the whole album)
if you get a 'we don't recognise you' type page at NPGMC popping up click the 'members click here' link and log in with your member name/p-word. Follow the instructions and you should get your licence fine
burn the tracks to a CD (you will have to use WMP)
copy the tracks from a CD back to your hard drive as mp3 through your preferred alternative to windows media (Real should work fine)
    injoy!

Thanks for all the advice...yeah, all I had to do was play the "access granted" download and I was fine.

I downloaded the oh-so-unfunky "NPG In This Funky House" and Controversy live from Hawaii this morning...I was able to burn Controversy to CD but there was some sort of error with the Bataclan track.

The quality of the Controversy track is pretty weak. Is anybody satisfied by a random live song from a random concert (without even any information as to the players, or the date of the concert, or ANYthing)? Seriously, so what? They're gonna release a song from Bataclan every month? I bet 10 million dollars right now that unless they put up the entire show it'll never happen, despite the annoying "To be continued..." at the end.

The club has never stuck with an idea for more than a couple months before getting bored and moving along. Remember all the different shows we were supposed to get as club members that Prince later decided not to release because the "mix" was off?

Dude, they must have been REALLY bad mixes, because this Controversy that he's charging us for sounds hollow and thin, like the Year 1 downloads. sad

I will say this, though...the end of the "All the Critics Love U..." single is way cheesy.

But for 77 cents, I ain't complainin'.

That rigid old white man funk on "N!!! P!!! G!!! In THIS funky house!!" makes me truly wonder how this could possibly be the same man who once wrote Housequake (which he also de-syncopated when he played it live last year).

Knock it off. rolleyes

It's possible to speak critically of something without it being categorized as "complaining". You'll learn that soon after the good people at the deprogramming center extract you from Ranch Nelsonian and get you nice and strapped down in the van.

Yeah, okay, I'll give ya that. All that self-referential NPG cheerleading stuff has got to go. We realize the band is called the NPG. We understand that's the name of his label. We know NPG is the name of his whole big concept. We've known since 1990. WE GET IT.

I think he's gotten away from this kind of thing of late, but if he starts in with the "N!! P!!! G!!! In tha HOUSE!!!" chants on this tour, I'm just gonna have to have a seat for a while.

I was floundering around at first, but then I did something radical and followed the instructions EXACTLY as they said...I downloaded the new Windows Media 9.0, then I downloaded the "access granted" licence file thingie, then I ordered my tracks and it moved smoover than Telly Savalas' head.
