I see that most of you are siding with the NPGMC and just assuming that they are giving us a fair price. Maybe they are. But Prince is using almost the exact same price as the recording industry sanctioned pay to download sites. Most charge $.99 but some charge less, close to what Prince charges. Now, my main problem is that I don't trust the RIAA or anything affiliated with it. Remember the huge settlement they paid out last year for illegally fixing prices? (How many of you got a piece of that?) Do you really trust these people to give you a fair price? Well, Prince is basically copying them. Think about it.
Incidentally, does anyone know exactly the overhead involved for Prince in this enterprise. I admit I am pretty ignorant but it has to be much cheaper than his cost to manufacture cd's. In my opinion, $.77 a song isn't a whole lot cheaper than what you pay per song for cd's, especially when you consider no liner notes, lyrics, cover art et cetera. Plus it pisses me off that they are not releasing more cd's. Almost every fan seems to prefer cd's but Prince insists on pushing the download format. I wonder why?

$.77 sounds good to me. But if we can order the album on a printed CD with artwork and Jewel case, that is what I'd buy. Can't risk a computer crash which will erase everything, and a CD-R doesn't hold as long as a factory printed CD.
