This year we gave "donations". Asking for your money back from the club is like demanding your money back from a church.
They also made far fewer promises this year, so there's nothing really to hold them to. Considering this site shows up #1 on Google for the term "Prince", you'll probabbly have more impact posting your comments here than writing to the BBB.

They obviously come here and read about themselves (and what bunch of tiny suppurating dicks we think they all are - yes PurplePisser99 - that means you too!). There are three sides to every story. They also made far fewer promises this year, so there's nothing really to hold them to. They can call it a "donation" all they want on the intro page...you can see in the email NPGMC sent to the BBB that they themselves refer to it as a "paid club subscription" in the CONtract. Sure doesn't sound like a donation to me. I hear what you're saying, though...they try to make you feel like you were just DONATING something. Donations are optional, anyway. Another example of the low literacy level of the NPGMC. Just because I SAY I'm NOT killing someone while I'm doing it doesn't mean I didn't just kill someone. They must have speech writers for Dubyah working part-time at the club or something. And I would say that The Chocolate Invasion was a fairly big promise that they didn't live up to...but that's not even my main beef, which is that they have basically made the entire experience of the site ABOUT the forums, yet they've kicked out a grip of people with no option for a refund. Bullshit, is what it is. No confusion, no tears. No enemies, no fear. No sorrow, no pain. No ball, no chain.

OUTSTANDING LOGIC!! So can you explain to me then why exactly we had to listen to Prince bitch and moan for the last 12 years about how big bad Warner Brothers forced him to sign a CONtract that he decided he wanted to nullify after the fact?! Shit, at least he got a few dozen million dollars outta the CONtract he keeps moaning about...all I got was $25 taken outta my bank account. Oh, and a couple MP3s, granted. Still, I think if he had any right AT ALL to complain, then certainly I do too. So nyah-nyah-nyah. I didn't say you didn't have a right to complain. I was saying they made you look bad.

mmm, not quite. check it, like blue said: But they should refund AT LEAST a significant portion of the membership fee...otherwise they're just showing that it's all about the money. Why would they want to charge you for something that they don't let you use otherwise?
it would be fair to at least compensate 'im for that, as opposed to lettin him on the remainder of the site for the full price. What ya'll don't realize is that they are still allowing you access to the site, so you are still getting something (no matter how small) for your money. But like I said, the law doesn't require a refund when the customer breaks the contract.

i think they need to deal with the reality that visitors to their site may not necessarily agree with there views. or, rather, they need to deal with it an a more constructive and productive way. simply banning people because they say something that may offend some is rather hypocritical since what is offensive is purely subjective (and many times the npgmc, itself, is offensive). the rules do not specify what is deemed offensive so it is left to the customer to make judgements. then, when you do say something that 'offends' or 'divides', they don't have the decency to email you and say "look, you can't say things like that. if you do it again you're not allowed to post." they assume you will just know what is and isn't cool. yet, supporters of the site have been just as inflammatory as you, bluey, if not moreso in many cases. but they are not offensive because the administrators agree. very shake ground, i think.

Well for starters, The Org isn't raking in money...and they don't deleted posts simply for disagreeing with the moderators' views. If you say they do, then I'll say you're fucking wrong.
They only deleted posts here if you explicitly break one of their clearly defined rules, and when they do that they take the time to EXPLAIN IT TO YOU, even though these mods don't get paid like those pussy PeePees at Da Clubb. No confusion, no tears. No enemies, no fear. No sorrow, no pain. No ball, no chain.

Hey blue, you asked about the NPGMC "talking about me saying "hurtful" things on a website...can you imagine another company doing that ?" That's the question I answered. We both know the org will restrict members for posts that the moderators find abusive, inflamatory, harrasing, etc. ... Sure the org handles it better, but that's not what you asked about so I didn't go there.

You are thinking wrong there. The rules also say that the making of judgement is up to the NPGC, not the customer/ member. If they want ban you because they think you have been too offensive they have that right (yeah...it's in the membership agreement). You are not my "friend" because you threaten my security.

theblueangel said: Back in July, in the middle of the Pharaoh Phuck-up, after I was booted from the forums (and after it became clear that the forums were pretty much all we were gonna get for our membership fee), I took the advice of some sassy slut and contacted the Better Business Bureau.
I know that it's all in the CONtract that I had to sign in order to join in the first place (and hear that first mp3, which was the reason I joined - to hear the music), but I still think it's unfair business practice to ban people like that, especially when they're SO uneven about who they ban, and who they then let back in, and who they don't. If they want to be hardcore about it like that, then fine. It's their website. But they should refund AT LEAST a significant portion of the membership fee...otherwise they're just showing that it's all about the money. Why would they want to charge you for something that they don't let you use otherwise? I also object to the fact that they had a Flash ad with a NEW jingle (remember that "JOIN NOW" thing? I actually LIKED that), with statements that members would have access to the new jams...and then nothing. I mean shit, I'm not buying directly from them on the official releases anyway, so pre-ordering is certainly no benefit. It's more expensive through them and would take MUCH longer I'm sure (although my NEWS delivery was extremely fast, so obviously things have improved greatly). Anyway...the other day in the mail, I got a print-out of a response sent to the BBB regarding my complaint via email from the NPGMC. The transcript is as follows: *** In response to complaint #xxx, Mr. Gadek's complaint is unfounded and without merit. Our website, www.npgmusicclub.com, is a members-only site with specific rules regarding the types of language which will be tolerated in our chatroom and message board forums. These rules are clearly posted in the membership agreement, which all members agree to before joining our site. This is clearly indicated at http://www.npgmusicclub.com/join,html. Mr. Gadek has repeatedly violated the rules as stated in article IVb of the membership agreement, as copied below. Before being banned from the forums and chatroom (his membership to the rest of the site is still active), we explained to him on numerous occasions that disrespectful, inflammatory or hurtful language would not be tolerated. Section III and IV below outline our rights to ban or discontinue the membership of anyone who does not abide by the terms of the Member Agreement (a.k.a. CONtract - ed.): "III.Termination of Service. Subject to the restrictions in a paid Club subscription agreement...", etc. etc. etc...(I added the et ceteras...y'all can go read the agreement if ya like!) Mr. Gadek's language in the member communities was repeatedly inflammatory, vulgar, abusive and harassing to the NPGMusicClub and those who run it. We had deleted a multitude of such posts by Mr. Gadek before banning him from the forums. He continues to use abusive and hurtful language about the club on another public Prince fan site, www.prince.org. (Look up any posts by theblueangel and it will be quite obvious.) We felt it was in the best interest of the club that we ban Mr. Gadek from the forums and chat areas of the website. He is free to use the many other areas of the site, as always. Respectfully, NPGMusicClub." Thoughts? Ye shant be saved...

what a waste of time
you broke their rules... no matter if you like those rules or not... you apparently broke them from the little that I read demand a refund? there is nothing that requires them to do jack-all... in all honesty you should be happy that they continued letting you buy tickets (which 'privilege' is perhaps now revoked as well) i aint saying that you should like or dislike the npg club... hell there are plenty of things I dont like about them but this whole hoopla is.... errr boring! ... however I will say that I have no idea what caused your 'dismissal' from the forums... maybe you were offensive and broke their rules...

Art, Amsterdam, Holland. No, the reason they banned him is pure bullshit. It's just Prince trying to extend his control freakery over his fans. The dwarf should be grateful people are happy to give (sorry "dough-nayte") $25.00 for next to nothing. Most of don't give that much to charity in our whole lives. Besides, someone who made their name and fortune singing about a variety of topics from incest to jerking off with magazines while dressed in nothing but tight bikini panties and pubic hair, banning someone for voicing their opinion is pure hypocrisy. That said, with the tour coming up as a reminder of why we're here and why we get so pissed off towards someone we don't know, I think all of us in the Complaints Corner will forget about our NPGMC woes when we connect with that serious funk. mate - i never ever post on these boards but been visiting for quite some time. But blueangel - you need to stop spending some much time on these boards cursing and get on with your life. Do you actually think people find it attractive or even interesting for one person to spend so much time moaning about something.
you broke the rules. fact. quit the moaning mate. now is an exciting time to be a prince fan - enjoy the moment. Yes - the site was a bit dull of late but so what - people like seem to forget what we have had in the last 20+ years. We all get your point - now it's time to move on.Smile a little more.

Point well taken, gavki.
(Excuse me while I talk about myself in third person): Theblueangel has written an email to the claims rep at the BBB letting him know that the NPGMC has completely satisfied all complaints I had against it. I can access the club, there is information and content and less heavy-handedness...the layout is SO MUCH FREAKING BETTER, too. And the baddest motherfucker on the face of this stanky purple-ass rock of a planet we live on just showed Jay Leno's worldwide audience why he will always lay claim to his royal reign. Bring on the Musicology...I've always liked school, and ain't nothin' better than learning about Prince music and his influences...and uh, am I the only one who is more excited for this than for the ONA tour? (And I was excited then). Things come along at the right time. Angels can learn lessons and mature, but they'll always be bitchy, high-strung, high-maintenance but high-payoff blueangel bastard motherfuckers. Damn Musicology's a FUNKY-ass song played live...I wanna hear that shit with Eric Leeds layer over top of it - Eric, shut the duck up! No confusion, no tears. No enemies, no fear. No sorrow, no pain.
