You seem to like the song. Well that`s good.
But he didn`t play any fender rhodes in the song
"what do u want me 2 do".
But hey - i like the song too.[/quote]

sounds like rhodes to me. especially at the very end. it is used sparingly. you say it isn't rhodes. what is it?

that's the sad thing, I already have. there isn't really anything in this song, a 10 year old couldn't do.

I would like to hear what you have come up with that you feel trumps "What Do U Want Me 2 Do?"

Can you post us a link to your song?

so true... so true... while i didn't necessarily wear out NPS, when it came out, and although i listen to RAVE a lot, it was still nowhere near the playing time of past releases, when TRC came out, i couldn't stop listening to it...

i rank it as one of prince's masterpieces... i love the music... it's very organic sounding... and at least some of ("digital garden" for example) covers new musical ground that we haven't previously heard from prince before...

and for the first time in a while, he was singing the lyrics with pure passion and emotion... you could tell that this was something he really cared about, and not just something he threw together or busted out while half asleep...

i didn't care for "xpectation" so much, but with "news" i had another prince cd that i could listen to day & night...

I love the new track. It's got a dark kind of vibe to it. Sounds like it would go well with "Reflection", "Madrid 2 Chicago" and "Breathe" on an album. I like the way he is using the "old" Sign O The Times sounds (Linn drum, clean bass, mellow keys etc.), but it sounds more complex than the sparse SOTT. Cool.

Yeah, I agree, you can play NEWS, any season, time of the day or night. Beautiful piece of work.

TRC; he surely does sing with power, passion and good ol' fashion Prince-emotion. A lot of people don't like the overall message behind the album...Well I don't agree with all of it either but, he's singin' about what he believes in, as a result; it's beautiful, powerful and flowing.

If I put out an album, which I hope to do someday, I don't expect everybody to agree with my message either. Yet atleast you can feel my groove and hear what's in my heart.

The Sensual Everafter is a perfect example of this, absolutely, excellent piece!

exactly... i would much rather have somebody sing about something they believe in with passion, than sing about something that they have no personal interest in or connection to and sing about it nonchalantly...

that's what disguishes an artist from just another singer... an artist has a message... and personally, i'm glad that prince has a message and a purpose... as much as i did like rave, you could tell that his heart wasn't in it... some of the songs, he just sounds so detached... even if i don't agree with what he's singing about (and for the most part, i actually do), it's good to hear him singing about it passionately...

I don't care for the song 2 much. It's better than "Reflection" but it's rather boring. I like the Linn drum though. On a scale of 1-10, I'd say 5. Keep tryin' Prince!

One of the problems Prince continues to have is that his past output of music is so amazing, his recent work pales in comparison.

Please stop criticizing up for complaining about this FACT OF LIFE! His work for the last few years has been uneven, and uninspired to say the least. It is a FACT that his new stuff is VERY WEAK compared to any of his old stuff.

For those who don't see that or don't want to, I feel sorry for you. Either you're a new fan with no frame of historical reference or you simply take everything the man does as a gift from god.

In all reality, most major bands working today treat their fans better, offer more perks and less frustration. I love P as much as the next fam, but when you have so many perfect albums in the past, inferior work is instantly recognized!

Positivity, Ya'll

PRINCE: What Do You Want Me 2 Do?

http://www.npgmusicclub.c...Prince.mp3

...

When I try to play this song nothing happens. It doesn't buffer or anything, same thing that happens when I try to hear REFLECTION ROOM songs.

My systems been acting weird when on the NPGMC lately anyway. I can't play anymore songs in the reflection room. They don't buffer or play. They used to. I can't find them in my TEMP INT FILES anymore either!!

If I switch browsers and go on the NPGMC, I get ane error page that says the site is UNDER CONSTRUCTION.

What's up?? Any ideas?? Anyone else having these problems?

The song lacks passion. It could've been sung by anybody - there's no 'Prince signatures' on it. The drums also sound pretty dated (like most of the 'High' project). WHy he persists in using a drum machine when he or John Blackwell could be playing some live drums I'll never know...half the reason that TRC was the best thing he's done musically since TGE was the live drums.

The song is ok, but for Prince, it sounds like a throwaway.

I think he started using the Lynn drum machine again cause
so many people kept imploring him to give it another try.

My only grump with this is that, altho the SOUND of the
machine is cool, he should write some better tune around
it instead of leaning the entire thing on the drum.

That's like saying "Here is another old drummachine song
it's so special of me to use it again that I won't even
bother to compose a decent tune around it".

Check: JukeBox with a Heartbeat & Wherever U Go, Whatever..

for the same treatment.

Well, the odd thing is...if this was a song he just decided to toss away, into his VAULT. We'd be beggin to hear it. Therefore I'm glad I have access to it. And the song isn't that bad at all.

Besides, I believe Prince is the ingenius musician. Thus if he decided the Linn was the way to go, I'm sure he had good reason (ie When Doves Cry has no bass, why? Because he's the musician in charge, not us).

Again the song is great, I can dance to it, it has feeling, a nice groove, smooth and flowing.

While in Internet explorer (which you are now!), go up to tools, then pick "Internet Options".

In the middle of the window that pops up, you see a section entitled "Temporary Internet Files". It has three buttons. Pick the one called "Settings".

Another Window will pop up. Pick the button "View Files" and you will find all the files in your temp folder. If you have just been to NPGMC, and let the song download in full, you'll find it in this folder.

Right click, copy, and put in a "funk" folder!
