DETROIT screening update -- the missing poster

Hi everyone ...

GREAT NEWS to share with you. For those that attended the DVD screening Monday night at the Star Southfield, the promo posters and (likely) the movie tickets are on the way to Detroit.

Here's the deal. Called around and talked with people at the Star Southfield, and Universal today. The Star said all they were tasked to do was be the host theatre for the screening. Everything that Universal Music put together was supposed to happen. Universal had control, and that included checking everyone in and handing out the goodies -- like they did in the other cities. The Star did not have the posters or the tickets, only a handful of Best Buy sale promotion sheets. The Universal rep, who never showed up, had the posters and the movie tickets.

The Star Southfield was supposed to do nothing, other than play host to the space for the screening. So that is why when you came up and talked to some of the movie attendants, they had hardly a clue. Prince? You mean Pirates of the Caribbean? LOL.

Well, I received a phone call moments ago from one of the Universal people in Los Angeles. She expressed the company's sadness in knowing that Detroit did not receive the posters and/or movie tickets, like all of the other cities did. She said because of the east coast blackout that affected Detroit and New York City, there was a communication breakdown. The word never got out to the Universal field reps to come out to Detroit and promote the DVD. So, we and the Star were left in the dark, so to speak.

Universal said that they will be talking with the NPG Music Club very soon. In turn, the NPG will check off the reservation list with the NPGMC members email, and you will be getting, according to Universal, an emale from NPGMC. The emale will state that they want to confirm your home address and a poster will be mailed to you in due time. It might be mailed out via NPGMC or Universal.

In speaking with Universal, they could not confirm if the special movie ticket will be in the package.

I tried to get Universal to ship everything to me here in Detroit and then me and Andrea and Peggy and Melinda will hand out the posters at one of the next Detroit Crawl events. No go, but this is a great alternative.

So, blame it on the blackout of 2003.

See you all Friday and Saturday.

Peace --
