interestingly, you can say "ass" in the room without it being censored. perhaps prince likes "ass"

lol I noticed that to Tom. In fact I said "ass" expecting it to come out *&% because I find it kinda funny that it does that, and there ass was plain as day.

I was there for BlueAngel's fly by...I'm sorry ya'll, but I was laughin.

I go there cause it's Prince's "house". I come here to have fun.

I can't believe that so many of you think it is just fine to have your words changed after you've sent them, without permission or warning, to comply with Prince's beliefs. I think it is apalling, and it shows a deep disrespect for us (thus violating the "only rule of the chat", btw).

I wasn't there, so I don't know what all was said, but I'm a pretty reasonable person, and had I been there and seen that my words were being changed, I probably would have flown off the handle and done the same thing. It really pisses me off.

Does that mean you'll start flaming people on the Org as of today? wink What's the difference between not cursing in NPGMC chat & not flaming on the Org? Both are site rules we're asked to follow. Why should we feel free to violate them & not suffer the consequence of getting booted? confused

And BlueAngels' tardling behavior has been spelled out above, take a look smile

The difference is that 'cursing' is not directed at anybody. It's the use of words that some people prefer not to use. I agree that I should not be abusive of you, but I do not agree that I should agree to speak only the way you want me to. You see?

The other difference is that the moderators here would NEVER change what I said to suit their personal preferences. They might decide not to allow my post to remain and/or they might discuss it with me, but they would never alter what I had actually said without my permission. That is what they are doing in the chat. It is wrong.

I'm not defending BlueAngel's specific behavior, as I wasn't there, but I have seen for myself that words are changed in the chat (ie. from "fuck" to "f&#k"), and it is NEVER ok with me that my words are changed in any way without my permission.

There are so many differences.

First, we don't pay for the Org. The moderators, as a result, can do whatever they want and we have no right to complain. I paid to access the NPGMC site.

Second, the user agreement at the org says that flames can be removed. The NPGMC says nothing at signup about being prohibited from using a certain set of words.

Third, and most importantly to me, snipping is very different from changing words. The way that I express myself says something about me (and in the case of the NPGMC chat room, my use of 'curse' words in a non-abusive way shows that I'm not a brainwashed fam, which is important to me). By changing my words, they do more than censor me, they misrepresent me. They manipulate my image to make me fit into their little Fluffy Positivity Land image that they want for the site. That really, really pisses me off.

We don't pay to have a place to cuss, either...lol...it's not like we're being denied a service we paid for, because we paid for the exact service we're recieving, one of which is the service of a profanity-free chatroom.

Second, the user agreement at the org says that flames can be removed. The NPGMC says nothing at signup about being prohibited from using a certain set of words.

Then that's an argument for asking for a refund and leaving the club if it bothers any of us that badly...it's not an argument that something nefarious is being done in the club...

Third, and most importantly to me, snipping is very different from changing words. They didn't change words, they deleted them and replaced them with some symbols...same thing happens on Amazon.com if someone puts profanity in one of their customer reviews. Whether your words are replaced with an asterix or "Snipped", it's still being replaced...and the real difference is that it's FAR easier to delete someone's posts after the fact than it is to do it on the fly, which is what's required in a chatroom...it's like the difference between a "beep" replacing a profanity on live TV, and an editor removing a possibly offensive sentence from an article before the article gets published...which, if we allow ourselves to step away from our position of outraged moral superiority, is actually FAR more like changing and misrepresenting someone's words and thoughts...at least with the asterix thing, everyone can know you meant to place a profanity there...with the removal and snipping of our posts here, nobody knows at ALL what we desired to say...going by your own logic, you should be REALLY pissed at the Org's practices...

No, you're missing the point. If somebody changes my words, or the way that I put them, there is no way for the others to tell. As far as they know, that was actually my intention. If a post is snipped, I am not misrepresented.

As far as outraged moral superiority, I don't know that this is a deeply moral issue, but I am pissed, and I do think I'm right.

exactly. it IS extremely irritating, and rude, and really funny coming from a man who wrote songs about fucking his sister, who had a hit with sexy motherfucker, etc. etc. - and basically that's what i was saying on the chat last night. it's silly. was i pissed off and trying to agitate? damn right i was. why else would i be in the npgmc chat room of all places?

the ONLY rule that is stated is to show respect. i don't personally think that i showed disrespect by typing the name of one of prince's songs. as tackam said, i find it disrespectful to have my words altered in such a childish, black-or-white way. one can use "curse words" and not be disrespectful. and if anyone on here disagrees with that, then i truly wonder how you can listen to any of his music prior to, oh, 1998 or so. i mean, prince TAUGHT me how to be "naughty," ya know? i was 7 when i first heard dirty mind and i've never been the same!

and devaniti - who the hell are you to be so self-righteous? you must be one of the moderators, b/c you seem like a good little sheep. of COURSE it was a "deliberate act" to type my words so that they wouldn't be censored. DUH. you probably enjoy hearing prince ruin his classics by half-assedly backmasking the "naughty" bits.

so let me get this straight: it's disrespectful for me to type the name of a prince song or use any kind of profanity (except for ass apparently...good call, tom), but it's okay for prince to talk explicitly about the "wet circles" of vaginal flesh around the vibrator that his new wife uses? yeah, that makes PERFECT sense.

i apologize for not mentioning in my original post that i told the moderator to fuck off when they asked me to watch my language. and i'd do it again - in fact, if any of you moderators are reading this, FUCK YOU.

Actually, the most important part to not be missed is that there's a huge difference in editing flowing chatroom text and editing posts on a message board...so you can't really compare having posts deleted on here to having words replaced with asterixes...

Besides, if parts of your views are snipped and deleted, then yes, you're definitely being misrepresented...ask any journalist how they feel if, when seeing their article, the notice that certain segments have been omitted...And if your entire post is being snipped, then you are being denied the ability to even be heard...I don't know about the rest of you, but I'll take a few asterixes over that anyday...

Cant help laughing at this! i guess ppl just HAVE 2 test the waters over there though...dont we all know by now that prince really wants 2 be our father figure, teacher, mentor, minister, AND he probably? feels guilty/bad that he taught ppl all those dirty words/lyrics back in "the day", so thus he now wants to teach ppl who have followed him "forever" to be decent, clean, religious, God fearing ppl. U all know how he feels about that, & Swearing! i think BlueAngel did this on purpose 2 see what he could get by with right under prince's nose! TOO FUNNY! when y'all gonna learn? um, my grandparents are dead, and when they were alive they SURE as hell didn't listen to fucking PRINCE. not sure what's hypocritical about this - but it IS a nice big word. actually, if anyone, prince is the hypocrite here, not me.

if you must know, i curse in front of pretty much everybody, including my parents. so whatever. hey, prince cursed vehemently in song until his late 30's...i'm only 27. can't i wait a few years before i "clean up my acts"?

and still nobody has addressed the fact that the man himself is still "naughty" when he feels like it. i don't know about you, but if i was concerned about making everything "family friendly" i wouldn't talk about my wife masturbating. but that's just ME.

I agree w/ theblueangel...we as adults should have the right to say whatever we please in a chatroom we PAY to visit. I do not use curse words on a regular basis, however, knowing that I cannot really bothers me. I don't think they need to have those filters in place because most people will be respectful enough not to curse...those who are going to curse anyway will do what theblueangel did.

On another note, I feel that I will probably get banned in the near future because I am not an ass-kissing "follower." Is this ok too? Should the moderators be allowed to ban me because I don't express opinions that align with Prince's current dogma?

Instead of using obscure Prince lyrics to validate what should be allowed in the npgmc chat and what should not, why don't you simply use the club membership agreement to guide you??...In case you didn't actually read it before signing up (lol), here's just a few things you agreed to adhere by:

Whinging, again... Being greedy, again... Disrespecting P's wishes and views, again... Childish, again... NEGATIVE, as usual!

All of you miserable whingers (I SAID ALL), need to grow up and get a life! I always thought Prince's fans had a bit more common sense, savy and a lot more POSITIVITY. No sooner has the site opened again after what looks like a huge effort to do something different for us (as we asked), indeed, after many of us thought that because of the Naysayers (like Blueangel and Takem obviously), that it wouldn't come back again you moan like hell! It is only $25 for godsake. You didn't have to join - YOU paid the money, YOU made the choice and when YOU paid up YOU agreed to the rules!

Do the great majority of Orgers a favour and shut the 6th letter of the alphabet up before you make the rest of us slit our wrists! If you don't like it don't go back - it'll probably be better without people like you by the sound of it.

That's the trouble with The Org and other sites these days, there are too many Prince whingers as opposed to true/real fans. Whingers should be banned - people who go to the chat rooms (be that the Org, NPGMC or wherever) go to enjoy themselves and feel a bit better/come out with a smile on their face, rather than respond angrily (and get pissed off by) comments like some of the ones above!

Always remember, you click the buttons on the mouse and the keyboard - if you don't like don't click. God, even I don't sound positive now - you see what you do?! pissed mad

LOL dude I can't believe you are crying over this. We were all in there and an administrator comes in says he would like to try something to test out for the Nikki chat on Friday and asked everyone if that was ok, everyone said ok sure, he asked if we could take turns asking a question in the order that our names were on the right. Everyone says yes and starts, then blueangel out of turn says something something F*U*C*K. Not only was the word rude but it was rude to everyone going out of turn like that. He got bounced, he could have came right back in with no trouble...and he did but then he calls us all a name and says fuck again.

i think blueangel's actions in that respect were disrepectful, but i'm talking about the bigger issue here.

i like to point out ignorance as well, and i think it's pretty damn ignorant to frequent a site that you think is negative and complain about the complainers...leave and stop adding to the pollution!

Alright, enough!

Here is ANOTHER REMINDER for those who forgot the rules that the org has...

Be civilized, and try to keep posts "clean".
Don't be hateful or abusive or harass others. Do not start, engage in, or encourage 'flame wars'. A good general rule: "criticize ideas, not people." Personal/racial/ethnic/gender-based insults, slurs, or derisive comments will not be tolerated. Yes, you can talk about sex, but try not to be vulgar or obscene. Profanity (in moderation) is OK in general, but directed at someone in particular is generally NOT. Any language which encourages conduct that would constitute a criminal offense or violate the rights of others (in the moderator's opinion) is grounds for account deletion.

Everything and everywhere in life, there are rules. If you do not follow them, you get punished, no?

Next time, try to be cool - it's really not that hard. Being respectful when someone asks you respectfully to stop, and you choose to continue, then you have asked, no... wait, begged to be banned.

You got what you literally begged for.

End of discussion. Do NOT create any more threads about this, as it is going to be deleted. Why? Because it is full of name-calling, and that is breaking a rule WE have.

Thank you.
