I agree and I will go further to say that he or his people and at the very least, the people who ran the site read what's on here. They could have come forward and told us that our memberships were not going to be renewed and made sure that they could not be renewed by accident.

I am not hurting for 77 bucks but in this economy, I am sure some people are. For Prince to remain silent is fucked up. The above statement means NOTHING to me as I would be getting my 77 bucks back come hook or come crook.

What exactly is wrong with just saying the site is over and has been for many months now? How about just telling us there was really no such thing as customer service?

If this shit had happened to Prince (shitty customer service) you can best bet someone would hear about it. But we are just supposed to sit back and continue to kiss his purple ass. Fuck that.

Prince is wrong. He needs to step the hell up and do the right thing.

Look how thorough and diligent he and his goons were when they came after the fan sites saying Ben owed him for pictures of tattoos and posted lyrics for the sake of discussion. Look how detailed they were in searching youtube for someone they thought would be an easy victim to secure him more power and money.

Plus, Lotusflow3r album download aside, the web site's content really is stuff that many web sites would be offering for free. I can't see paying $20 for that stuff, let alone $77.

A web site is a promotional tool, which offers opportunities to purchase stuff. I just can't get with pay sites.

The past 365 days have brought naught but shame to Prince's house, as far as I'm concerned. I have a hard time ranking them, but I think the website bullshit is worse than "Cause and Effect" and those atrocious Paris performances, but not quite as bad as "Purple & Gold." Nothing is more shameful than "Purple & Gold."

We have always suffered in the 'Prince' world with lack of or at the least mis information on near enough everything be it new websites, cd releases, tours the list is endless.....
Things could be so different with just a little bit of information given at the correct time.

Do I think that Prince was aware that this was going to happen...No I don't

But when something is going to have your name written all over it then you do have to take responsibility when things go wrong.

I truly believe that he probably had bigger plans for this site but somewhere along the line (as on so many other ocassions) he lost interest.

I didn't join Lotusflow3r.com for two reasons. I didn't/don't have a spare $77.00 laying around the crib, and his other websites were not managed well. Therefore, if you joined Lotusflow3r.com and are unhappy with the product or service, that's on you. Don't spend money you don't have, and don't keep doing something the same way and expecting different results. It's obvious Prince doesn't care much about his websites. I may be one of the ass-kissing Kool-Aid drinkers because I think that Prince's post-2000 work has been quite solid work, but at least I'm smart enough not to spend money I don't have on something that hasn't worked in the past and then bitch about it.

Now, allow me to increase the volume on "Cause and Effect" to drown the hate.

What I don't get is why isn't the site free for all! And pay for content download! Set up sample previews of videos and audio, but offer high quality full versions for downloads for those who want to pay.

Heck if it's a finished (not crappy sounding / low bit rate) product (I refer particularly to the songs) I'd pay up to $2.00 a track but for that it better not have DRM that goes and locks you out should the site crash / fold. (And preferably nothing like 'Purple and Gold' again either.) Can you imagine the money he'd make at $2.00 a track when it comes to material from 'the Vault'? OMFG!

For the dreamers and Fams, that's what you should be hoping for and not that they get Lotusflow3r.com back up!

Dori, having seen your inside threads on the great John Blackwell project you do perhaps have some connectiosn into the purple circle. I just wanted to ask you if P is actually in a 'good place' right now , are we getting worried over nothing or is he just not taking care of his life. To be honest I couldn't care less about the quality of his current music [it's all just opinion at the end of the day] but what I and many others on here care about is his personal well being. Any light you could shed on the situation?.

I think the larger issue is that we being familiar with Prince and the way he does business KNEW this was coming. We've been sitting and waiting for it for months, all the while warning people that it would happen.

If we knew it and posted about it on here. Prince and his team knew it too. They just chose to do nothing about it until all hell broke loose.

Prince, seriously, call me. We can work out a deal and you could have an online presence that WORKS. You could work with people that understand you and your fans would have a satisfying experience. THINK about it.
Studies have shown the ass crack of the average Prince fan to be abnormally large. This explains the ease and frequency of their panties bunching up in it.

THINK about it. If he got real he could have the most unbelievable kick ass online presence there ever could be. I would lay down my arms to make it happen. He only wants yes men though and that is his downfall.

nah, that would be too sensible!, a great thought though that P would engage rather than alienate his fans. One trip across to associated artist forums gives a great example of how w&l use basic technology to engage with fans and build a loyal fan base.

I am disappointed as well about the Lotusflow3r site,
it never fulfilled what it promised and the new charge thingy
gives it the rest. I will call my cc company when i see my card
was billed again because i don´t trust the so called "Lotusflow3r Development Team".

But i simply can´t see why ppl now begin to make such a big deal
about Prince and his career in general. U don´t have to be a Prince
fam, u don´t have to be here and nobody force u to join any of his
websites. It´s Prince we are talking about and most of us already know he
does some weird things. But u can´t only take the goodies u have to take
the whole "package". For those who can´t, go away and join u2.com or whatever.
There´s plenty for all of u.

There´s a lot of ppl whining on the forums lately and they simply can´t stop...

We were saddened to hear today that the earliest adopters of LotusFlow3r.com were charged $77 for a repeat subscription to the website. We did not expect this action to occur automatically as we had not set up a recurring billing script in our code. After getting on the phone with the payment gateway Authorize.net, we found that the subscriptions were being renewed on their end. We immediately discontinued the recurring billing for all further subscriptions and we will be refunding those who have been charged. We are very sorry for the inconvenience and are working quickly to refund anyone who was charged for a second year. Please be aware that Prince himself had no hand in this and that the error was due to lack of thoroughness on our part.

How for one moment, could that possibly be the case when this is what it said on the LotusFlow3r website when it opened:

Lotusflow3r memberships are valid for one calendar year from date of purchase, and are non-refundable. Membership includes access to restricted areas of Lotusflow3r, access to pre-sale concert tickets, and the ability to download music and videos from Lotusflow3r. Membership does not include the download rights to certain �Premium� material, which is available to purchase on a per-item basis.
Automatic renewal is available for Lotusflow3r memberships. If automatic renewal is selected at purchase your credit card will be billed on an annual basis, unless you cancel automatic renewal prior to the renewal date by emailing sales@Lotusflow3r.


Here's what it says on Authorize.net's website to Merchants about Automated Recurring Billing before they even get an account. I'm sure it goes into more detail once an account has been set up with them.

No wonder Prince's business practices are so shitty. His fans, myself at some times included who make excuses and his minions who take the blame, have made it just way too easy! disbelief

One last thing to think about for those that have such ability. If there wasn't going to be a year 2, why'd they wait until today to say so? I'm sure SOMEBODY KNEW this BEFORE today! hmmm

I can't remember how that site looked, and I know it was a long time ago, but now it's just a disaster. I mean, you can't even keep track with the official ones coming & going every year or two.
