Interesting indeed.
I wonder HOW much Prince was personally involved from the beginning with the actual operations of the site past Lotus kick off phase. Some of the internet video postings on You Tube and other sites are now making sense. There never was any interest past year one. At least I got my T-shirt.

Now I wish I had joined because I'd be on the phone with my lawyer right motherfucking now!!! I am SO BLESSED to have your existence in my universe! Honey, I'm just getting started, you know we have very low tolerance for bullshit! Here's what it says on Authorize.net's website to Merchants about Automated Recurring Billing. http://www.authorize.net/...ngbilling/ ARB provides multiple methods for creating subscriptions. Simply create a subscription in the Merchant Interface that includes the customer's payment information, a billing amount, and payment schedule. Or allow your online customers to choose installment payments from your custom payment form when you integrate your Web site directly to our ARB application programming interface (API). ARB does the rest, generating subsequent transactions based on the schedule provided. I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

Why would Prince even hire some guy from LA to make a website for him and be his "online presence manager?" One look at Lotusflow3r would tell anyone the site is all about the look and nothing about content, security, news, etc. It's obvious the development team knows nothing about the internet, web 2.0, web security, programming, or how to correctly bill a subscriber. Ooooh, flash!
Just get a Twitter or Facebook account and keep fans updated on news or album releases. I don't think Prince's 40+ year old fan base wants to click on items to unlock a video to "Raspberry Beret".

Thank goodness the developement team took care of that in a hurry. The Idiots (you know who u are) here at the org were ready to send out for Prince's head on a stick. I can certainly understand the frustration but some here are just plain ridiculous. Prince please hurry up and tour or put some goodies up on Lotusflow3r.com (if the is going 2 b a year 2) to help cool the panties around here. Thx. Peace. there has been a thread here for ages, advising ppl to change their cc details etc, in case something like this would happen Guess what, org oracle was right!!! Im so glad i didnt have access to a puter when LF dropped, otherwise i probably would be one of those peeps. Problem with this is that people did change their credit card details and emailed the sales department of lotusflow3r and it was still charged to their original cc account. So while a warning was great, the fact that people heeded that warning and were still charged, is not.

Dear LotusFlow3r.com members,
We were saddened to hear today that the earliest adopters of LotusFlow3r.com were charged $77 for a repeat subscription to the website. We did not expect this action to occur automatically as we had not set up a recurring billing script in our code. After getting on the phone with the payment gateway Authorize.net, we found that the subscriptions were being renewed on their end. We immediately discontinued the recurring billing for all further subscriptions and we will be refunding those who have been charged. We are very sorry for the inconvenience and are working quickly to refund anyone who was charged for a second year. Please be aware that Prince himself had no hand in this and that the error was due to lack of thoroughness on our part. Sincerely, LotusFlow3r development team Well if that can be arranged within a matter of days, this particular matter can be resolved. Amazing tho' how there is only life in Prince land when the shit (literally) hits the fan.

You know just reading the first few posts in this thread it just struck me (not for the first time) that fans do play an important part in the Prince web experience. I'm not of the school that Prince owes us anything. We pay him for his art and I really don't think I am entitled to anything that he creates for free. I don't feel I made him, or contributed to his success (obviously yes I have bought his records but I did not have anything to do with his natural talent or work ethic or ability to reportedly soak up any musical influences and knowledge like a sponge). BUT without people like Gav and others like him, some of you who post on here i really don't think we would get this kind of feedback or solution to problems that we sometimes assume (wrongly) is down to Prince being some kind of asshole. It jsut seems to be his nature to be a bit half-assed or lose interest in web projects quickly. Thank God that doesn't apply to how he plays live or creates some of his classic tracks in the studio.
Thanks to the fans who truly do the work on our behalf and save a lot of ranting and raving. Prince you don't need to acknowledge these fans but I hope you know that we are not all quick to critique and lock horns with you the moment something goes wrong. Some of us just want to know what is going on and save others some worry. Just somewhere in the middle,
Not too good and not too bad.

- The site is closed down. Someone made that happen and communication should have gone out to members. How convenient for it to happen today...when everyone got charged. - Why post this on this site instead of the official site? - If we fans were wondering and worried and even took steps to stop this, how could no one had thought to not look into this earlier. Did they not gett he emails of cancelation - Renewal not in the code? Fans even pointed out this caveat when joining. So that's a bold faced lie. Really all anyone had to do was look here. We've been bracing for this day for a while now. Many took steps to change their info in hopes that this would not happen. And it happened anyway. Spaceboy's right, this is too weird. Obviously Prince wouldn't STEAL money because it would be a legal suicide (as well as a PR suicide). So my guess is that Prince told them to shut the site down at the last minute, and these guys who hadn't been reading our emails for months, neither doing anything about this site anymore because there was nothing to be done, just FORGOT to cancel the CC renewal (chich WAS there, as evidenced by the user terms). This is just WEIRD. Why did Prince tell them to leave this blue orb & music there instead of just nothing, as if to suggest it's not over when the tech team's email suggests that it is (but doesn't say it clearly either). This is just all WEIRD. Not funny, quite insulting for the fanbase, but mostly it's such nonsense that it's WEIRD!!! . Interesting. My personal feeling is that this website was about an album and as there's something new in the works, then this is the end of LF.com sadly. Thanks Gav for passing on the information. Cool that they contacted you. [Edited 3/25/10 16:31pm]

just to bring Michael Jackson into this, I remember there was a SNAFU with the Victory tour tickets, and they personally apologized, even though I'm sure it wasn't directly their fault. It was indirectly their fault. U2 apologized for the same kind of thing. It is prince's fault when he lends his name to something and you trust it for that reason. If it's not his fault he should still apologize & explain why it's not his fault. It's good pr at the very least. My Legacy

I think the message of the blue orb disappearing into the distance as the music fades away might be "you can all say goodbye to my fantastical universe and all the joys it did bring-eth". [Edited 3/25/10 15:55pm]

So basically it's the equivalent of "oops.. our bad."
I think I've hit the bottom as far as ever having any faith in the man I once looked up to. He's made off like a bandit without any repercussion and yet many people still say "well maybe there's good stuff in store if we just put up with it" I saw that movie. It was called "What's Love Got To Do With It" I'm tired of watching people get bitch-smacked like Apollonia in Purple Rain. Prince..unless you do some serious apologizing your ass off for your inexcusable behavior towards the only people that still give a rats ass about you, I'm done. Sure I'm gonna enjoy all the past stuff and enjoy and talk about the memories attached to the music pre-douchebaggery. But I can't in good conscience support a thief and a mean spirited person who makes empty promises for self mild-amusement. You are a walking hipocrisy and at the very least you deserve no fams/fans/whatever you like to call them. Respect is a two way street. Loyalty is not a right, it is earned. You have broken so many promises and you should be ashamed. Now I'm not above forgiving, but that requires an acknowledgement of the other side that change needs to happen. Sorry for my rant folks. I'm just so disheartened to see the guy I looked up to since I was 8 years old turn into such a schmuck. Consider lotusflower the last cd I ever spend my money on by Prince. He doesn't deserve anyone's money that's supported him all these years and now is getting treated with complete indifference. The only way I think he will ever learn is to see what it's like if the fans really did say 'enough is enough". [Edited 3/25/10 15:57pm]
