For me the whole experience is encapsulated by the fact that at the top of this forum is a sticky detailing how to gain access to the site. It's been there for a year and was needed by the vast majority attempting to gain access. Having to gain Lotusflow3r membership in such a manner wasn't fun or adventurous. It was fucking stupid.

PS: Even then I still bought the cds. An mp3 has no value in my eyes.

You worm out of the disagreement using only profanity.

Must I stoop to your level so that you understand Vendetta? You ask, "Who am I to say if someone got there money's worth or not" coz you think I'm talking nonsense, or in your language "bullshit."

Ok Vendetta. May I ask who you think YOU ARE to tell QuietSeven to "stop talking stupid bullshit," because you experience it that way? I quote part of your response.

"And can we please stop that stupid esoteric "something big is coming i know it because i can feel it" bullshit? Thanks"

So, you feel you can ask/tell people what to say or what not to say because YOU feel it's "bullshit" but if YOU want to say something is "bullshit" then that's OK?????

Seems to me that you have an inflated ego and double standards.
What?

so because I curse, my argument is less valid somehow? Stoop to my level? What kind of level was Prince himself on when he cursed like a sailor?

And i will stick to what I said. No one can tell anyone else what kind of experience they got for their 77 bucks. Whooptie-fuckin'-doo that you are satisfied.

Seems you don't understand Vendetta. cool Stooping to your level has nothing to do with the profanity. It has to do with the applauding and seconding Funkydiss's telling QuietSeven what to do as if "you & your groupie have the right to dictate."

Of course your next strategy is typical of "your sort." You move it to "what kind of level was Prince at when bla bla...." biggrin Shift the blame to someone else. So predictable yawn

One more thing. Where did I tell you what kind of experience you got for your $77??? I merely asked what alternative experiences would have been had if it had been spent on something else. Just a hypothetical question.

I added, as I (and others) have measured the site price in comparison to what was given and find it, PLEASE NOTE (as previously mentioned) "reasonable," ie. an objective standard for an annual site membership with videos (new and old), 3 albums, lyrics, 3 Grand Paleis tracks and ticket discounts.

Now I'll let you and your groupies continue to huff and puff and blow the house down with your "non-slave immorality."

Prince isn't ANY other artist. Besides, why paint them all with the same brush?
Are you on ALL the "other artists" forums too? Do they have as much discussion about the music over the years as they do here?

You were talking about "objective" standards, that's why i mentioned others.

Yes, he is an artist like MANY others (i never said "any"), and i say that as a huge fan.

Furthermore, your argument is incredibly weak: What does make him so "different"? Is his music better? If so, are you really suggesting to hinge the price of music on its "quality"? Would you also pay twice as much for his CDs than you pay for "worse" artists?

And if that is not the case - what else could justify a higher price then? Just him being so "extra special" as a person? Now that IS fetishistic, to quote Errant. lol

An objective standard refers to site and the amount of videos etc offered compared to price.

I place Prince in a category higher than many many artists. He's been around longer, achieved much and brought about A LARGE MAJORITY of my favourite tracks.

Yes I definitely would pay MORE for an artist who I think delivers better quality music.

I again find it a silly comment, "just because of him being an extra special person." What kind of nonsense is that? I don't know Prince. I only know his music, lyrics and site. Which is why the comments about Prince being a thief etc etc are downright ridiculous. Just wild comments from people who 1. can't bury a hatchet 2. thrive on their own anger and enjoy playing victim 3. will do anything to undermine anything Prince does because he doesn't do what they want him to do.

Yes, I'm a 'so-called fan' who paid $77.

Who has bought every album, single, whatever, Prince has released in the past twenty years.

I'm a 'so-called fan' who attends multiple concerts when Prince is in my area.

I'm a 'so-called fan' who was an NPGMC member both years and was very satisfied.

I'm a 'so-called fan' who loves Prince. In fact, this is this 'so-called fans' first complaint.

Being a fan does not mean one has to be a sychopant. Nor does it mean that observing or judging a situation from one's own perspective indicates one is not a 'real' fan.

Of course, we love Prince's music. That's why we are here and joined to the bloody site.

Remember, that criticism CAN be constructive, if it is conveyed as such. All the replies here seem pretty constructive and reasonable to me.

It's not sarcasm your above answer, it's a worm out so you don't have to bring out any comparisons about other sites/artists which might make you re-think your overall judgment of the LF site.

Some, if not all, of the particularly vicious comments are coming from those who haven't truly liked Prince's output for years (or just happen not to appreciate this one track).

But the loyal fans who coughed up $77 seem to be losing out. Not least because some dickwad subscribers have uploaded all the musical content, sometimes even videos, to free forums or bootlegging blogspots.

Can you realistically expect to take $77 and barely update the site all year, whatever the sign-up agreement?

A lot of the comments are from regular fans like me. For me the biggest thing was lack of content as well as a very frustrating site to navigate thru.

The "dickwad subscribers" would have put up the content for free anyways...regardless of if they did or didn't like the content or site. Been happening for yours.

And the answer to your last question is no.

there are still many people who seem to defend the model of lotusflower,
which i find amazing.

they find reasons and use mathematical wizzardry to justify the cost of
the website in relation to what we actually got and in some crazy way,
they actually reason that we got more than enough.

i wonder tho, if those people had known exactly what would be on offer
this year, would they have still signed up?

i know i wouldn't have.

some people even reason that prince deserves our money, even if we did
not get anything substantial in return. i find that idiotic. this is a
website he launched and promoted. they did not promise any real stuff,
but they did -as always- allude once again to '10 hours worth of new n
unreleased track, unheard by anyone yet'. and more stuff like that.

i knew it wouldn't be all that much but i signed up, expecting that we
would at least get something similar to the npgmc with something new
on a regular basis.

this website, however, didn't even offer any NEWS or simple annoucements
to their subscribers. 95% of all the prince news items this last year
have come from sources completely independent of the website.

it even seemed like prince chose to release info through either doc F or
that chick who posted some montreux clips on youtube.

so even prince was acting like he didn't even have a site, about two or
three months into it.

i don't think there will be a severe "backlash" since i guess most of
the people who are members now are just like me, we want new product.
if he'll put a new cd or a new dvd on his site or if he starts to put
3 or 4 new songs on the site every month, i *WILL* sign up once more.

what i won't do anymore is give him my money and just wait and see if
he choses to acknowledge the fact that he has a website and that he's
got people waiting for something.

I'll sign-up for guaranteed content or pre-paid downloads.

I do wonder if the numbers signing up were inconsequential. So much so, that Prince became tired of it very quickly. Perhaps it didn't seem to him to be viable enough to get his music to his audience. Releasing material on radio stations, youtube and news on Dr Funkenberry seems to indicate this.

Whatever, we may well get tracks slagging us off again or babies crying at the end of cheekily titled albums ('Expectations', 'C-Note'). Suggestions that 'genuine fans' would never criticize anything.

With NPGMC year two (with the resultant 'C-Note', 'Expectations), I actually thought Prince's reaction was justified. It seemed to me the NPGMC, although sometimes a little disorganised, had delivered. Maybe I was being a little 'blue-eyed' but I felt my support actually mattered; was appreciated and meant something.

Now I feel like dirt on a purple shoe, waiting for purple scraps from Prince's purple table.

Still love the guy though. Guess he knows that. Therein lies the problem.

The numbers would have picked up if everyone was raving about it. I think most (with due reason) were "For that price, I'm going to wait and see what really comes about". You have to admit he gives us reason for pause and you never know what exaclty you are getting even if it's spelled out. This goes along with how he releases and promotes his music now as well.

No, In actuality I paid... and another thing... I just know something is coming. Something most people will definitely be apologizing to that man for bashing him for no reason other than to be evil with intent in words. Also, when you assume you know what I do... make sure you know to keep some coinage of love in your pocket. You may need to call me some day for some help....

Not about to be mean and not about to get evil.

Take care with love.
Me.

There is nothing he can put up to make me apologize for the year of minimal content. I would take anything monumental posted as his apology to us. And if something that big was to happen and if I still have a membership by that time I will be the first to say thank you. But if he tries to put something that big up and only to get me to renew my subscription I will gladly give him the finger and get whatever content elsewhere.
