Prince and his team would do some good to look at what Jack White and Co. are doing over at TMR. Their vault is exactly what I think we were all expecting from lotusflower ( and NPGMC for that matter). $60 every three months will get you a platinum membership which includes exclusive goodies mailed to your door exactly every three months.

The first month included an exclusive mono remix of the White Stripes album Icky Thump, a 7 inch and a Third Man Records T-shirt-both also exclusive. The second shipment included a 2 record set of a Raconteurs show in London, another 7 inch and a lithograph. Everything shipped to members is exclusive to membership and will not be sold even in their Nashville shop. The third shipment is being put together right now and it looks like it will be just as satisfying.

They called it an experiment back in July when they first announced it. it is now in its third quarter and it appears that it will be alive and well for some time.

They call it "The Vault". Check it out if only just to get an idea of what an artist can do if he really appreciates his fans enough to do what he says he will do.

Not all of you will appreciate Jack White's music, and I'm not here to convince any of you what a great artist he is either. To each his own. I'm just frustrated to know that one artist I admire can do it, but another that I've admired far longer can't.
