I, as I a NIN fan, do want it.

Nobody said Trent had anything on Prince musically.

Then it is sort of POINTLESS isn't it?
I happen to think Trent makes great music.

At the end of the day, you guys can shit on Trent all you want to. None of us are trying to compare Trent's music to Prince's. all we are saying is the business model Trent uses is awesome.

But perhaps, some of you are happier waiting on t-shirt for four months.

There are millions of people who have the same mindset you guys have about Trent's music.

I have not heard Trent's music, but I do appreciate his sincere desire to connect to his fans and relate to them on a human level.

I refused to pay $77.00 for the lotusflow3r.com web site. I just had a bad feeling. I was still pissed that the NPGmusic club closed abrubtly and I only paid $25.00 for my "lifetime" membership!

Prince my love, WAKE UP!

Fortunately, unlike Prince, if you want to try out some NIN tracks to see whether you'd like the music, you can do it all for free on his site, then decide if you'd want to buy an album smile

What you guys like is that Trent gives you his shitting music for free because nobody in their right mind would buy any of it. I hope P does not have to resort to giving all of his music away for free and some of you need to stop being so damm cheap. No artist can live without money everybody should be compensated for their work.

His music does have a massive following though (the NIN online community for example is pretty huge), it does chart (despite the downloads being available for free) and he does sell out arenas (despite video footage of live gigs being in circluation) - the point is that he has a much better evolved business model for selling music in the current climate.

There's another thread on here that has just been started in which Trent outlines ideas on how to succeed if you are just starting out, this model isn't just for established acts, and it does make money...

Cheap? I get the albums for free on Trent's site and also buy them. What a concept!!

I know you live to rile people up on this site but it does not bother me in the least what you or anyone else thinks about me being a NIN fan.

I guess it depends on what you think massive is. The last time this guy was in D.C his concert did not sell out. That is not massive to me. In addition, Prince already proved you could off the grid and do well if you had a big enough following so I don't have any doubt that Trent makes some money from touring but to say that he is charting and making money from giving away all of his music for free is ridculous. If he is happy doing it great but I really think he is giving it away for free because it sucks and very few people would buy it.

You guys can say what you want but the LotusFlower music is the best stuff P has done in years and much better than a lot of the crap on the radio today.
He would have been foolish to give it away for free and since he got a chunk of change from Target and still got 300,000 people to buy it he did not have to give it away.

I think he has screwed up his website but we don't know what is going on behind the scences or what is going to happen in the future but in no way should an artist give all of their stuff away for free online when you can run a pay service and make money.

You buy them but do you really think the vast majority of people who download music go out and buy the CD?

Let's not live in a fantasy world. Just take a look a how CD sales have fallen over the years.

Most people are simply to cheap to pay for music? They like getting it for free.

In addition, it is too bad that some people on this board cannot handle debate on issues with out going postal and assuming that I bring up topics to rile them up.

It is called debate and discussion. Try it sometime. It is not illegal to think.

And yes, people download Trent's music for free and still buy it. I believe Trent sold over 300,000 copies of Ghosts.

So you insulted people and you call that adding to the debate?

I know some of you Prince fans find it hard to believe but a lot of people think Prince's music is shitty. Millions of them. I am sure you do not care about that just as I don't care what you guys think of Trent's music. Talent is subjective. It is all a matter of opinion. While some of you can bitch til the cows come home, Trent's site is tons better than Prince's.

The point of this whole discussion is not whose music is better. We wouldn't be on here if we didn't all love Prince. The point is that Trent's business model is not only profitable but extremely fan-friendly whereas lotusflow3r.com blows serious chunks. Hence the fact that this topic is in the "lotusflow3r discussion" forum.

Maybe you (and you know who you are) should read the whole topic (including that very informative video clip) before you jump in and spout offensive, irrelevant drivel.

Lot's of people don't like P's music but millions due as he has sold about 38 million CDs I am sure that is a lot less than Trent is every going to sell.

I will give you one thing perhaps Trent site is better if his fans are happy with it but the music is a whole different issue.

I have already stated that if the fans like the site than it is successful for the fans.
However, what is the point in having a site with shitty music that is being given away for free.

I can't see much financial success by giving away free content. In addtion, we have no idea if the NPG site was financialy successful for Prince or what is going to happen to LotusFlower site.

I got my opinion and I am sticking with it.

No you can't I have listen to this dude's music and it is awful. Anytime anyone wants to say an artist like "Stevie Wonder" blows P out of the water I am the first to say sure but when you guys pick people like Trent I really wonder what you are smoking.

This guys does not have the range, diversity, talent or popularity to even be put on P’s level.
People are going to remember P’s music long after he is gone not to many people are going to care about Trent’s website being great if the music he leaves behind is poor. In addition, if you really want to discuss a good independent business model check out Jack White I think he has everybody beat.
