Prince was pissed off by all the tech problems when Lotusflow3r launched.
Prince fired Scott or whatever his name was who set the site up.
As a result, there are some kind of legal shenanigans that are preventing anything else happening with the site. Lawyers dragging it out. Site is stuck.

Or Prince is preparing for a US tour and hasn't had much time to tell the guys what to update the website with.

Or things are being compiled cleared as we type and some more updates are coming for the summer.

Or Prince is on holiday.

Or Prince and the teams computers are broken and only the website host server is running and remains unchanged while they wait in a queue on some premium rate tech support helpline to get their's fixed...

Or time has slowed down for Prince fans and although we are only about 1 month and a half into our year's subscription it seems like it has been 11 months already.

i think prince is over the internet, and he felt a pressure to have an online presence for this project, he gave the designers as much as he could bear to part with, then in true prince fashion he completely lost anything remotely resembling interest in the site and moved on to the next thing as soon as humanly possible, and the sitemasters are probably left in the dust without a thing to add to the site.

Actually, U may have a point there. I've been locked out for nearly a week, because I corrected my Birthdate 2 May 13th, and haven't been able 2 get in since. Several e-mails sent 2 support, and still locked out.

Others who have changed anything in their profile R locked out as well.

I'm not very happy about it.

At the moment I really cannot believe that Prince has dropped this already. I just think we are all being our usual typcially impatient selves. None of Prince's official websites have ever been known for regular officially created content. A couple of lines of "Newz" on the old Npgolineltd/NPGMC (first incarnation) every few days (or weeks) was as frequent as it ever got.

but.. eh.. wasn't this the same site/club that posted in January, that in January we were gonna get a new club? If he didn't give a fuck before the club opened with stupid messages like that.. he probably ain't buggin out about it now.

It's really not sensible to try and interpret Prince's moves based on how logically they hold together. He has a long history of doing things that don't seem to make sense. We should not expect that just because he spent some time promoting something that he will naturally stick with the project.

Or Prince will come up with a new website with every new album, let us all sign up again, cause costs must be paid.
Promote the album at Leno, Tavis en Ellen, that's what he did with musicology.

It seems there is something wrong going on, it shouldn't take that long to get the Ellen Show performance uploaded on the website, like they did with Leno's performance.

No, it doesn't look good. The Uptown, Dirty Mind etc videos were added in the first weeks and now it's so quit. After a year watching a black screen, we know this is Prince his game, but no interactivity isn't doing him and his website any good.

Missed chance, he did so well, when NPGMC was up and very hot ...

On those counts

- got the album early
- not only are there no remixes, discojellyfish has even disappeared
- I'm really surprised no tour has been announced
- I'm pretty disappointed they just posted a few songs and not an entire concert. The Sacrifice of Victor doesn't count as it's been previously released.
- they talked about all of these studio albums they cataloged, but nothing at all is on the site.

The year certainly isn't over yet, but a tour to support the album should have started by now, there doesn't seem to be a good reason for discojellyfish to disappear, and there's really nothing to suggest that concerts will be shown the right way i.e. shown the whole way through and not just as a single song at a time that is clipped at the end.

My guess:

The web designers are concentrating on updating the galaxy. Maybe they are trying to fix glitches or making sure that the new music, pics, trivia, what ever they may be adding works properly before letting us see it. I'm sure March 24th didn't go as well as they wanted it to. Lots of log-on issues and an overloaded server(s). I hope they are working on organizing ticket sales!

I've been meaning to ask this for a bit:

Has anyone else noticed that the plane the worlds are on has changed? I could swear that when the site first launched, moving between the world's was linear, side-to-side movement. Recently it appears as though you're moving around a circle, only with parts of it not accessible just yet. Could this be this be introduction of a soon-to-be-launched new section?

I'm pretty damned bored with the site too though. Some new videos would be nice.

Kids are doing that now. This isn't 1997, it's 2009! No business would call this acceptable. Not in the day and age where everything is instant and disposable.

I don't mean to harp and all, but the is NO REASON why content isn't up or updated except that someone doesn't want it to be there. And to think there IS something technical holding them back..or they just want to get it just so etc, well you're just fooling yourself.

I don't think the designers were Prince fans to begin with. I'm sure they respected Prince as a very talented musician, but knew very little about him or his music.
The way I see it, don't bother updating the site if they are going to add content we have already seen and/or heard. Hopefully they are doing their research and are going to give us something that will shut the haters the hell up (for at least a few minutes) and give the silent, patient fans something that will make them smile and know it was well worth the wait.

We where never promised anything when we gave them our $. We knew we got the three cd's as a bonus for becoming a member as well as pre-sale tickets oh yeah and the founding members shirt. THAT'S IT. Yes, Lotus says it will be updated periodically, but again it isn't promised.

This is Prince we are talking about, anything is possible, and nothing shouldn't be a surprise.
