Nothing to complain about here. Right - who gives a damn about what Stereogum says anyway? How many people in the US even see this? THis is publicity that Prince does even know or care about.

It's awesome that everyone has such high xpectations of the man. I'm sure Camille is loving it, but I think the truth is much more...average. I'm starting to see Lotusflow3r in the same light as George Lucas and the Star Wars prequels, or The Warchowskis and The 2nd two Matrix movies; fan xpectations are so high there's no way he could possibly measure up. Now I'm not saying that the technical issues they've had with the site are excusable, but IMHO they are forgivable. I feel for you people not in the US, I hurt for the others who are still having trouble downloading albums. It ain't pretty, but it's gonna get better.
I remember when I finally got my copy of Crystal Ball and they had included an extra gift in the box as a sort of "thanks, sorry this took so long" kind of gesture. Maybe they will do something similar this time around. It's always been my opinion that for 77$ he should have sent a hard copy of the albums. I'll hang the T-shirt next to my 3121 hoodie though, maybe wear it to a show if the man ever decides to go back on a US tour. I gotta say thanks to all y'all, the last few days would have SUCKED if not for The Org. The work. Let me show you it.

but that's the best part of pitchfork i guess it's a coke vs. pepsi thing, then.

You think they wouldn't fix those things. You think they would just keep the $77 and say f you no more downloads coming your way!!!
So when do they fix the corrupt files? Sunday???

So when do they fix the corrupt files? Sunday??? Well it's not that the source files are corrupt, it's that the server connection gets reset while you are downloading and your system thinks the download is complete when it really isn't. This is why you can make multiple attempts to download them even though the terms of service say that you can only download the files once; because as far as the servers are concerned you haven't downloaded them yet! It's totally on them for why this is happening but I just had to chime in with the why and the how-it's not that they are purposely putting up corrupted files. The work. Let me show you it.

Also you can download the files multiple times - nothing on the servers end stopping anyone. Which will be worthless to some as the files are corrupt on some systems! They botched it all up. Complete failure.

Here's what you get -- or don't get -- for your troubles. Via Prince.org user SquirrelMeat: No hard copies of the album? No crimson and clover? No chance to gettickets unless you were lucky enough for the site to work in the first 5 mins? No high res vids? No downloadable vids? No exclusive pics, just 21 night pics? A tee shirt that you have to pay shipping on, and they won't ship to Europe? And the kiss video all chopped up on a screen the size of a postage stamp? Way to go Prince! You did it again! Expect a torrent of abuse! User IstenSzek summed it up best: if you've downloaded the albums, this entire new galaxy is very close to the real outer space: dark and empty Ouch. Prince will promote the three new albums with three nights on Leno (starting tonight) and three L.A. gigs (Nokia Theatre L.A. LIVE, Conga Room and Club Nokia) all on Saturday. I guess we won't be posting any video from them. [Edited 3/26/09 8:17am] God and Squirrel got mentioned!!!! The man? The site is just technology, sir. Beyond the flash it is stuff that has been working like that for at least the past 10 years. So in those basic elements need to be the basic necessities. Security, stability... Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.

I'm so jealous! Don't be. It will probably be an E Christmas card, which he'll charge me $100 and it will fail to download. When it finally does, some of the words will be missing because he'll be holding them back for the retail version. .

Well for wot its worth. I love the new site. i just joined up. No problems at all. Sign up, downloads, videoes, everything worked like a charm.
Im very happy. The music is excellent, really loving the new trax. And for less than 1 British pound a week, i feel its worth the fee. Times are hard but i mean you probably pay coca-cola more than £1 a week, so well done Prince. You have at least one happy customer here

Yall are inpatient. Chill people! We were all so excited and worked up for the new site to "launch". People frantically signing up and not getting in. The clock not ticking as it should (or going backwards) and all the other issues. We all need to take a deep breath....in thru the nose out thru the mouth. People are acting like crack heads who lost their supplier. It's gonna be alright everyone. I guess people think he should cancel one of his many concerts and come running to the server farm or the web designers house and make everything all better.
I agree it shoulda been designed better. Shoulda been tested more or some thing before it launched. People are complaining not even a week into it that they aren't getting their monies worth. We have a year to go. I expect that this is not every thing. I believe that we will get our monies worth of purpley goodness. We all appreciate Prince. Some feel they have been burned in the past from some of his other projects. But I think Prince has felt burnt too. We should be more supporting, encouraging and patient. We should believe that Prince is a perfectionist and will be kicking some web designer butt when he is done with the shows. Personally I accept Prince (warts and all). I do not believe he is trying to somehow scam me out of my money. I trust that Lotusflow3r.com membership is going to be well worth it. Naive? maybe.....we shall see I guess.
